Nordost Cable Sale Thanks Roubaixpro, I just bought a Brahma power cord from Ron. I'm thinking about a pair of Heimdall speaker cables, but even at the discounted price I'm having trouble justifying it.
Legacy Studio circa 1990? Actually, it was Reel to Real Design created by Bill Duddleston. I bought a pair of Legacy 2+'s when he was making them in his garage in 1987. Great speakers back then. I never heard the Studio's though.
Nordost Cable Sale It's always nice when a plan comes together. At over 50% off I might even consider them. Who did you deal with?
Using Brillianize remove Static Is your turntable properly grounded?
A B Cable comparison Interesting. I've never heard of anyone "testing" speaker cable this way before. Have you tried this with interconnects? Different ones for R & L channel?
Surface noise I see that recommended VTF is 1.5 grams, so perhaps you should try lowering the VTF. Also check your alignment and azimuth. I'm assuming that this is not your first time setting up a turntable, so I'll assume that the records are clean and have pl...
A B Cable comparison Wire different channels of stereo speakers with different speaker cables? No, I've never tried that. I would think it would be confusing at best. Would you care to elaborate on your results?
Why does better power = better sound? Bryon, when you speak of power quality, I assume you are talking about the quality of the AC line, correct? The age old question about why our systems sound better at night? When there is less stress on the power grids and the electricity is bette...
What happened to Krell The ebb and flow of the hifi market happened. It seems that more folks are using tubes these days. The tube integrated amp has increased vastly in the last 10 years or so especially. The days of the expensive SS amps, at least those built in the U...
Y connector from pre-out to powered sub and... 04-23-12: Amsco15Why can't a tape loop output be used? You would lose the volume control feature on whatever amp you hooked up to the tape output. All tape outputs run outside of the volume control circuit.
Amp design logic Mechans, there is a difference between a modification and a straight parts swap as the OP is suggesting. Taking a $1000 amp and just putting premium parts in it. I have heard several modifications, mostly to digital gear, but also with amps. Some ...
Gold CD Dealbreaker? Funny, I was just looking at some CD's today that still have the green Stoplight on them and reminiscing. :)I don't think it would degrade the value, but I thought I recalled that you could wash it off if you chose to.
Y connector from pre-out to powered sub and... 09-08-09: AlmargTo calculate the combined input impedance of the sub and the power amp, divide the product of the two impedances by their sum. Example: If the sub's input impedance is 25,000 ohms (25K), and the power amp's input impedance is 50,00...
Power Cables - Which component first? Experiment for yourself is the best advice. I know many will say source first, this wasn't so in my case. Your room, your gear, your setup and your ears are different. That's why they make so many different flavors.BTW, if your components are plug...
Another what preamp to get thread It's all up to you. In your original post you said you wanted a "warm" tubed preamp with remote. Neither the ARC or the Quicksilver will give you that warm tubed sound, IMHO. Are they very good preamps? Yes. Are they warm and tubey sounding? No.If... |
