2K-3K Cartridge for SME10/BAT VK-P10SE superpak
Hi Scott !I'd skip the Helikon. I had it for a few years. It is great, don't get me wrong, matches great with your phono stage :), but the Skala just is superior. Adding clarity, transparency and that warmth in right amount. The Helicon was just a...
Lost on next upgrade from SME 20/2 + IV.Vi arm ...
Ok after much listening, thinking, planning, fretting various options (like heat, more tubes, more shelf space) I decided on the following:1) upgraded Purist Venastus tone arm cable to Purist Proteus Provectus (umm wow what a diff)2) upgrading Wil...
Purist Proteus Provectus tonearm cable.
I have had this cable now for a few weeks. I burned it in with a spiffy rca to din adapter using the Purist enhancer CD for about 150 hours alternating between the purist cd and music for that time period. At least another 150 now on music via the...

I second the porter ports. I have 6 of them. Great guy in Albert, just watch out for some them jokes :) !1
Clearaudio Outer Limit on SME 20?
Hmm, if you are using the SME clamp right, with the washer, and put the right amount of torque on the clamp, the outer edge makes contact with the platter.Of course actually trying the ring may yield a good result. I'd think SME would have given t...
cable and powerchord match to amp and preamp ?
Lot's of varibles here. Depends where you want to nudge your system.I will say, if you are using the stock SME tonearm cable, that is a CLEAR place to start.I'd consider Cardas, Kimber, Graham, Silver breeze and my favorite Purist Audio Designs. V...
Purist Ann. Contego vs Shunyata Anac Alpha Helix
Hi the Fluid versions, in my system, and in my opinion are a little less even handed than the ferrox and especially the Contego in the 20th Anniversary. Like Tvad, doesn't surprise me.I think you'll like the Ferrox Dominus rev c or the 20th annive...
Purist Ann. Contego vs Shunyata Anac Alpha Helix
Hi were you using dominus fluid or ferrox? What Rev b or c? The 20th Anniversary power cords are a major step up from the dominus line. Resolution, much lower noise floor, lower distortion - all areas much better. I've had/have both in my system.S...
Wilson sophia typically found with solid state
Hi, I think this can be said for all Wilson speakers. They are very truthful to the source. It really depends on your source components and your preferences.I have heard the Sophia's, WP 8's, and Alexandria's with tubes and SS. Things about both I...
VTL MB450 monos Vs. BAT VK 60se monos?
The BAT SE Amps are more even handed and extended on the top and bottom. You'll get those 3d soundstages and beautful timbres. With your speakers, that BAT vk60se mono's will have plenty of power.I do recommend having a few spare 6c33b output tube...
VTL MB450 monos Vs. BAT VK 60se monos?
Depends a little on you speakers and room. Source as well. But I am partial to recommending you stick with BAT here. The VK60SE mono's are a steal for the performance and a perfect match for you pre amp.The VTL's are great amps to, no issues there....

PCs: Transparent vs Audience
I can't directly answer your question. But I am a big fan of the Transparent Power cords. I think they are underated and hince a super buy used.I just did a search and see several Transparent Ref in the $375-400 range. If you can stretch just a li...
