The Absolute Sound "review" of USB cable reads suspiciously like a press releaste
@dynaquest4  Your broad pronouncements of what others should do seem presumptuous to me.  Rather than living in the world of "shoulds", I would recommend you try the realm of "ears on" experience and try some cables to hear the difference (or not)...
The Absolute Sound "review" of USB cable reads suspiciously like a press releaste
@tom32801The "fiddling" I did with USB cables is to try a few.  I had started with a basic DH Labs USB cable, and I received a freebie Supra Sword USB cable rolled in with some gear that I bought, so I tried that.  I could hear no difference at ...

@elliottbnewcombjr" Who among you believes the construction of a USB cable will make an audible difference?"You know, I would like to believe that it couldn't.  But I just recently tried a different USB cable between my server to my DAC and it ...

Glad you are liking it!  I really like the ANK CAC 4.1LE that I built a few years back.  I think some of ANK's offerings represent nice value.Hard to say about the price, since you have not shared that info....
Who Has the New Top Technics SL1200GRE? Does it blow your other expensive tables away?
@stereo5 I'd recommend trying a peripheral clamp added to the use of the center weight.  I use both with my SL1200G (Stillpoints center and homebrew outer), and the sum is definitely better than either part in my experience.  I think you will like...
Who Has the New Top Technics SL1200GRE? Does it blow your other expensive tables away?
Ah, "blows it away".....   A favorite summation of comparison.  I prefer my SL1200G to the SOTA Cosmos IV it replaced, but the SOTA has its strengths, too.  I hear more clarity and tonal certainty with the Technics table (piano notes and organ ton...
Modded or stock Technics SL1200G
@jtsnead I agree with Ralph's observation that your constraint on thicker mats seems puzzling.  I have the thickest mat I could put on without hiding the spindle, because I figured more acrylic would offer a better sink for the needle vibration en...
Innuos Zenith Backorder
Must be a special chip, because ic manufacture has slowed down significantly in the last 6 months or so, because of slackening demand.  There is a glut of most chips now.
Modded or stock Technics SL1200G
I, too, have this tt modded by Ralph for a Triplanar U12 arm.  I have gone with a 5mm thick acrylic mat (no longer available "VSPM" design) sitting atop a 1.5mm silicone foam mat.  I am using a Stillpoints LPS weight, and a peripheral ring clamp t...

Why not just plug it in and find out?  Seems like an easy and obvious way to answer your questions.
Replacing Vintage Spendors is not as easy as I thought
I almost went for your same speakers back in 1987, but opted instead for Vandy 2C's; either would have been my first high end speaker.  My impression of the SP1's lingered for awhile, making me ponder what could have been. Those Graham LS 5-9 speak...
Fate? Karma? Purgatory? Help me put a good spin on this.
I feel your pain!  My tastes fall pretty much the same, and I would not look forward to it, but relaxing and seeing another slice of life has its merits.  Do you have access to some gummy bears?  That might not hurt....
Turntable that will be around heavy foot steps?
The two SOTA turntables that I used over a 30 year period were highly immune to footfalls in my wooden floors.
A DIY Swarm-based Distributed Bass Array for SOTA Bass
Thanks for this info, Tim!  Your description is very thorough and makes it all seem quite approachable.I am going to take the plunge some time in the next couple of months.  I am planning to use two of the Dayton amps for stereo (even though that ...
False Advertising
That sounds good.  I know once inadvertently forgot to include the advertised remote with a DAC.  Just took and email and I rectified it super promptly, but we are all human....I hope you get everything in order soon, and enjoy the music your purc...
