What music do you want to play really loud?
Mt10425 - It really wasn't intentional! I'd left that one LP hiding in my Kenner Close-N'-Play and forgot all about it! If you want to drive back from Missoula you can pick it up. I'm sure the SACD will be coming out soon!MarcoPS Hope you're enjoy...
Pics with ads?
Mt10425 and Broubin - I can relate one exception where pics of cables may have made some difference, as well as an accurate desciption. I recently purchased some speaker cables that I ended up winning for a pretty good price at auction here. The s...
What's the most anolog sounding CDP
I've been very happy with both my Naim CD5 and the Muse players I've owned. The Naim is playing through my Cary SLP50/Quicksilver 300B SET combo and sounds quite wonderful there. I have an older Muse Model 5 / Model 2+ running my push/pull system ...
What music do you want to play really loud?
"Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang" - the soundtrack! Man, when Dick Van Dycke and Sally Ann Howes hit those high notes with the pre-amp cranked all the way up to '11' there's always a few windows that need replacing the next day. Yani is a close contend...
300B vs. KT88 SET?
You can read the Art Dudley piece I mentioned online hereMarco
300B vs. KT88 SET?
Bemopti123- Yes, you've put together some nice systems there. A good friend just went from a longtime devotion to Theta DAC's to a BelCanto DAC 2 and he's been really delighted with the improvements. Also, I've been very curious to hear the 47Lab ...
What is the best DVD/CD player under $1000?
A Muse Model 9 would be a good choice used. They are jus over a thousand on average. Outstanding t redbook CD playback. Built like a tank. Muse also has a pretty good upgrade policy if you eventually want to step up. I just sold mine, but there ar...
Any suggestions for DIN-XLR interconnects?
Also Naim can terminate any pair of IC's to a DIN termination for your CD5. I do not know what they charge though. I believe they can also upgrade your player to have RCA jacks instead of DIN. I have found them to be very responsive to emails and ...
300B vs. KT88 SET?
If you find yourself in Seattle Paul, just send me an email and you can come by and hear either rig. Always happy to stand around and kick tires, er, wires, and share music. Tom also suggested I try voight pipes. You can find my email link on my w...
300B vs. KT88 SET?
Hey Bemopti123 - thanks for the compliment. I actually moved that system to my workspace where I listen to it now. Mostly for WAF per my system description. A more modest, KT88 based sytem is currently in my home where that one was. The LaScalas n...
300B vs. KT88 SET?
Zoya and Ykk - just to reiterate, SET and push/pull are two different animals. They sound very different so Ykk (do you have a zipper fetish:-) do try to take a listen to a 300B SET before giving up your current amp. I'd disagree with any statemen...
300B vs. KT88 SET?
I can think of no amps that will allow you to interchange those tube types. They have entirely different qualities, and amps that utilize each type will have their own strengths and weaknesses subject to your own personal preferences. I have 300B ...
Hardest component to decide on
I've got the same dilema as Spencer with room treatments and WAF. If I kept to the physical chain of the system I'd say speaker cables as they can make a pretty big difference, yet the difference they make is extremely system dependent IME. Marco
Would Audiogoners be interested in this?
Absolutely Ben! Based on our recent discussion I'm sure you'd provide an excellent resource. Newbee makes a valid point (again per our discussion), but I think that tends to happen all over the Gon' (as on any Internet chat site) regardless, and I...
Why no Tori Amos
Thanks Ben - that's a much clearer explanation of your persepective to me. I have to take a look at what gets me stuck on the 'criticism' aspect of this. I think it has something to do with the idea of critics playing God. Regardless, thanks for t...
