How do you tell your Cartridge needs replacing?
Microscope required!
SST Ampzilla 2000 SE MB and Ambrosia Preamp
Excellent designs from the late esteemed James Bongiorno (SAE, SWTP, Dynaco, GAS, Sumo, Spread Spectrum Technology).
Bought powerful/expensive Amp+Speakers but plan to use an old preamp , am I crazy?
Keep and use the NAD! Nothing wrong with it sonically. Don't fall for the neurotic belief that spending more and more gets you a better preamp! Diminishing returns sets in quickly!
Great speaker sounds terrible in my room?
Ten feet from the front wall is way too far! No wonder they appear to lack bass! Try one or two feet instead!
Power Cable Suggestions Needed
RE: power cords. It is easier to con someone than it is to convince someone that they have been conned.
Topping DX3 Pro +

The last thing a CD player or DAC needs is a tube output. All it does is add harmonic distortion and noise - which increases with age and use.
Long live Rock? 2022 R&R HOF
Parton, Eminem, Ritchie - nominees for the R&R HOF? WTF was the nominating committee thinking! Smoking PCP? Might as well add Celtic Frost to the list!
Denefrips Pontus "burn in" period?
Does the OP "burn-in" a new laptop computer? A DAC is the same! If it doesn't work 100% from turn-on return it! Stop falling for this burn-in crap!
Denefrips Pontus "burn in" period?
@jjss49 : all DACs need filters to eliminate our-of-band high frequency garbage. These are call aliasing filters and suppress frequencies above 22khz. No music there! What you said was wrong: "... without filtering for clearest most balanced sound...
Denefrips Pontus "burn in" period?
"Most gear including cables need about a month to burn in". LOL! More malarkey from the "golden ears" contingent!
Denefrips Pontus "burn in" period?
Put on your parachute. DACs don't need a warm-up or "burn-in". Stop listening to the uninformed and delusional! Mechanical things need a bit of "run-in" time - but not electronics.
Check this out.
