How many turntables have you owned? 28 on hand. Three in present use.
What do modern, current day CD Transports do that older CDP's with RCA digital out don't? Unlike LP playback CD playback doesn't benefit from costly mechanical construction and vibration control. Data streams from different players/transports can be readily measured for jitter and errors. Little if any differences can be found. Claims ...
What do modern, current day CD Transports do that older CDP's with RCA digital out don't? Bits are bits! The old analog ideas do not apply! All CD players/transports output the same data streams. That is what the Redbook Standard is about. In fact, DVD players will work just as well as transports. The proliferation of expensive transpo...
Is the Apple TV power cord worth upgrading? HDMI, Ethernet? For the other cables Monoprice is fine and low cost! Don't be taken by the claims of the golden ear moneyphiles! IMO the whole cable industry is just out to profit from the gullible with no objective proof of claimed superiority!
Is the Apple TV power cord worth upgrading? HDMI, Ethernet? No, but people that read my posts know that I am against changing power cords. I have never noticed any difference between power cords - and I am not tone deaf! Remember that sound/video starts with a component's power supply - not with the wire ...
Finally-a "best of" reissue that sound good You've just made the prices of these LPs go up!
Kinki Studio EX-M1+ users - I’v got a volume pot question! Just turn it up past 50! That type of ladder attenuator is very linear! The Kinki does not have an active line stage. It is just an amp with an attenuator and source selector. All the gain is in the amp.
bookshelf speakers on the floor In high school my friend Chip had his KLH 6’s on the floor. His system was a Pioneer receiver and a Pioneer belt-drive TT. Listening to Buffalo Springfield, Traffic’s John Barleycorn, Pink Floyd’s Ummagumma ... was quite an experience!
Help.... I'm scared to 'upgrade'! @sgreg1 : You are one of the few voices of sanity on this site full of moneyphiles! Too many believe that spending more and more results in somehow "better" sound. They are all too ready to listen to the subjective views of the golden ears crowd.
CD transports; do they really matter Confirmation bias is rampant here! If anybody remembers way back Theta sold a transport that was actually a DVD player (intact including front fascia and buttons) inside a metal case for thousands of $$$! The reviewers at TAS loved it - along with...
Heart vs the Head / Irrational Audio Compulsions? Those Rega Planar TTs are real neat looking! But they are belt-drive and the Technics are direct-drive - so an advantage there with speed stability and momentum! I tend to favor and use the Ariston/Linn TTs - belt-drive with very heavy platters - ...
Why are ???????? I took a look on FB for "chad braden". 24 appeared! Which one are you?
Transport Question The reason why a cable video stream is often poorer quality than from a player is the common practice of compressing (discarding data) done by the providers. They do this also to music files. That’s why I stick to physical media for music and vid...
Transport Question @nonoise : Whether it’s financial data, music data or video data the base form is the binary code. That is why a computer can read an optical disk and store/playback all three.
Budget DAC recommendation for Office system Get the cheapest Schiit or a Topping D10. |
