Why are ????????
A site like Audiogon - or EBay - which profits from sales does not want people making side deals. Data banks/servers cost money to use/set up. Side deals are profits lost.
Transport Question
Keep and use your Rotel, particularly since it is new. Unless you are so insecure/misguided that you absolutely must buy a shiny new toy!
Transport Question
Bits are bits. If you accessed your banking data from a different computer would it change? No, of course not! Digital data, whether banking/financial or music, remains inviolate regardless of how many times it is transferred or where it is stored...
Naim Nait original
I would rather spend $349 on a brand-new Topping PA5 integrated amp. Considerably more power (43/86wpc @8/4ohms) and low distortion (0.01%)!
Naim Nait original
I remember reading about the Nait amp in one of Art Dudley’s columns in Stereophile years ago. He was discussing either a new version of the Nait and/or a refurbished unit. He had a favorable opinion of the Nait! What’s it worth? Couple of hundred...
Researching SET Amps
Iron rules! My Sanei 2A3 SE amp has all Tango iron - power transformer, choke and OPTs. This is way more important than the brand of tubes!
To Buy or to DIY, here is my question
Save up until you have $8K for the used pair. No way you could duplicate factory quality!
Audio nonsense
Total Contact and E -Mats! Bybee Quantum Purifiers! Perfect Surface Copper!
Audio nonsense
Speaker cable elevators and those new magic discs to be placed on interconnects from SR!
Advice needed on MC cartridges
There are several Fidelity Research FR-1mk3 mc cartridges available on EBay for around $400 from Japanese sellers. I have owned the FR's and like them very much! Any cartridge, tone arm and SUT from the late Ikeda-san is a worthwhile acquisition!
Advice needed on MC cartridges
Spending thousands for a cartridge is insane! They all wear out and need replacement! The most I would spend would be about $1300 for the Hana ML with the micro ridge stylus. But I still think that the SL at $750 is just about as good for a consid...
Advice needed on MC cartridges
Hana SL  mc cartridge for $750 is an easy recommendation. It is low-output with a Shibata stylus. It will work well with the Luxman mc input. Lower noise floor and more detail retrieval.
Your single most significant purchase mistake?
@sandthemall : good call on the Carver TFM15! I have the cb version in use in the front room system driving OHM Walsh Sound Cylinders. I bought the TFM15cb at Goodwill for $20!
Your single most significant purchase mistake?
A pair of Acoustic Phase speakers ($200) that I bought at Crazy Eddy's in NYC back in 1976! Large two-way boxes with a 10- inch woofer and a 1-inch mylar tweeter. Actually not bad - but not special! Sold them for half-price to a co-worker.
MM Phone Preamp for DL103 (Already have a stepup)
How about vintage? There was a Conrad Johnson PV3 for sale on EBay a while back $700 + shipping! Pretty neat unit - three 12AX7's and a 12AU7. I bought one there several years ago too!
