New speaker suggestion
Nice electronics. I personally like the Sonus Faber Olympica Nova 3 in that price range. They are a good all around speaker that looks as good as it sounds. I liked them much better than the Kef reference 3. Used a pair of wilsons (really any of t...
Best AV receiver for B&W 703 S2?
Well the sound quality of streamed movies is total crap. The Apple TV is the best of the junk streamers but still bad (I own 2) How does it sound if you play a blu rays?Assuming it is the receiver (probably the source not the receiver) Does the re...
Replacement for 802 D3s
Honestly with the room limitation (placement restrictions) subs might take you farther.  Subs with a high pass crossover (JL CR-1 for example) can work miracles. I have a large dedicated room (650sq/ft) and subs did the trick for me. I have always...
Need advice on used Wilson Audio speakers
Yep used wilsons are great. Many of them are certified as “new” and come with a 3 year warranty depending on the dealer. Wilson does a great job of fixing them up if needed. The Sabrina are still pretty new and a used pair should last you many yea...
Replacement for 802 D3s
I have heard the 803d3 on mc601s and it was bright to me. Great demo but not a purchase for me (I have owned B&Ws in the past). I would look at the Sonus Faber the Largest Olympica Nova (5?) would actually be a little cheaper and a better spea...
My Room Size for Speaker Consideration
15x20 is a good listening room. You can make pretty much anything work in there.  Sopra 2 Sopra 3 both would be fine.
Role of sub woofers?
Imo the best thing you can do for a system is use subs with a high pass crossover (like JL CR-1) to the mains. I wish more preamps had bass management in them. It could really cut down on the clutter. I have found most speakers cross over best at ...
Which speakers did you find bright, fatiguing or just disappointing in some way?
“And of course the worst speaker of all time, the Tekton Moabs. Could there be a worse, more cheaply built, crap speaker? Oy. (Just kidding. Just having some fun with their fanboy.)”Derailed in 3...2...1...
Sharing a subwoofer with 2CH and HTs rigs!
Flynnrd,“In the velodyne manual it expressly IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS AND BOLD says do NOT use both low and high level inputs concurrently... 😕”interesting, the JL I use just has right and left RCA. I have never used the high level speaker hookups. ...
Which speakers did you find bright, fatiguing or just disappointing in some way?
B&W 703s with Rotel front end. My first system. Upper mids shredded my ears and they had to be cranked to open the mids up. Sadly I feel the current models have the same issue.
Sharing a subwoofer with 2CH and HTs rigs!
I use my JL E112s for both home theater and music. The inputs are summed. So you can send the preamp to one input and the reciver lower frequency output to the others. This still lets you high pass the mains and play the receiver’s out at the same...
New Klipsch Forte IV
Oddiofly,I am interested to hear your thoughts. They say the paper bass driver takes a longtime to loosen up and break in, as in 400 hours. I am interested in the Cornwall IV but still want to hear about the new klipsch in general as I still have ...

Let go of the music
I think the wall of sound has a lot to do with room reflections sometimes. It would be interesting to see if you get the same wall of sound if the speakers we setup outside vs inside. I just a guess. This would also make it volume dependent as the...
will changing to solid-state make the bass in my wilson sophias better at low volume?
Decathlon, has it right, all most all systems needs subs but an active crossover is key.
