Hi End Pre-Amp shoot out in central jersey? Rlips, your room/system is *very* impressive! I hope you post your shoot-out results on this thread. I too have a Lamm L1 and would be interested in reading about your shootout if Seldon participates.
Good stores in LA I had a very positive experience at Brooks Berdan in Monrovia. He is setting up an audio museum as well, if you want to see some very cool vintage gear.
Lamm ML2.1 monos with MBL 101E, OPINIONS I can contribute to this thread and my observations with the ML2 with stated speaker sensitivity. The Living Voice Avatar OBX-R model (now since 'upgraded' to OBX-RW) had a stated sensitivity of 94db. The Wilson Audio Duette has a stated 89dB @ 1 ...

Sota Millennia Vacuum? Sirspeedy, I'm very sorry to hear that. I know, the high end is a cottage industry. He said he would take care of me if I were to come back, which says a lot of his dedication and understanding.I have moved on as you know. Having fun as always. Th...
Sota Millennia Vacuum? Once in a while there comes along a new 'toy' that is a significant improvement over all other 'toys' of the same toy category. This new and improved toy is incredible, it performs much better than the rest and is much more enjoyable to play with....
Sota Millennia Vacuum? I had an awful experience with a SOTA Cosmos mk3 (purchased brand new) and then later on I upgraded to the mk4 (no improvement in sound at all to my ears).I owned the Cosmos for under 3 years, it went back to the shop for warranty issues - the cus...

Monitor users, isolation? Symposium Rollerblocks double stacked between my monitors and their stands. This is a very significant improvement in sound.
Directional interconnect cables I am using directional cables from Siltech. Early summer this year, I reconfigured my system around headphones so that my tube amps could go into hibernation for the summer. So after getting the headphones setup and listening to my phono stage thro...
Zu DL-103R I tried one, I ended up sending it back. I prefer a wood body over the aluminum, the aluminum did not open up the sound like a wood body will. The wood gives the sound a more relaxed and ease to the presentation.
Unipivot vs Linear Tracking Cmk thank you for illuminating me to the audible difference between a LTT and a pivot arm. I've been told that for an air bearing LTT arm, the air pressure has a relationship to the quality of the low end (bass) delivery.
Unipivot vs Linear Tracking If you have the time and motivation, set aside a long weekend with all the KAB 1200 modification kits and apply them to a factory fresh Technics SL1210MG5 one by one and you will be impressed at the outcome and with the changes of each along the way.
Unipivot vs Linear Tracking How would you measure tracking angle from the output signal? Or what does tracking angle distortion sound like?
Unipivot vs Linear Tracking I would have to concur with Cjfrbw, I've played around with the RS-3 rotary headshell vs a standard fixed headshell and from just casual listening, I cannot say that I can hear a difference in terms of tracking error distortion. But this is only f... |
