Koetsu surprise Those lead wires were easy to install for me. They are using rhodium clips. I simply removed the stock copper lead wires and replaced them with the LW 800 S wires. Not too stiff for me. I need flexible lead wires because I am using the Cartrid...
Koetsu surprise @karl_desch Try the Ortofon LW 800 S lead wires with your favorite headshell.
Why do turntables sound different? @anvil_turntables I have ordered a new bearing for my Technics, I took your suggestion and went for the sapphire-ceramic bearing. This will be my last upgrade. The next upgrade will be a new turntable of some kind.
Why do turntables sound different? I found the KAB upgrade kits to be very educational in terms of how each upgrade impacts sound quality of the Technics. That is why I chose a Technics SL-1210M5G as my second turntable. I wanted to understand what affects sound quality for a tur...
Why do turntables sound different? Thank you for sharing those links perezzi28.
How good is the Technics 1200 Mk2 with all the KAb upgrades? I just installed the DC-1200 20v Regulator, it removed any noise I could hear. Like the Strobe Disabler, only far better.
Why do turntables sound different? In terms of vibration control, if you look at my turntable I have the following setup:* The Cartridge Man Isolator (on top of the cartridge)+ Koetsu RSP* KAB USA tonearm dampener (silicone based arm dampener)* HRS Analog Disk (record weight)= reco...

Why do turntables sound different? @roberjerman ~ I agree with you, vibrations is where it's at. Let's also add speed stability in rotating the platter.
LP's... Do they sound better now than 30 yrs ago? Buying vinyl today is a crapshoot in terms of quality, especially if the records are pressed in the US. You may have better luck purchasing from the UK. I never have issues with vinyl from the UK.
Koetsu cartridges - what arms work? Why not take an empirical approach, begin with a low mass arm, and measure the cartridge/arm resonant frequency, and add mass to the arm as needed until you hit the optimal range of 9Hz to 10Hz?
Is using streaming services worthy of an audiophile? @lalitk ~ Tidal rocks! I had a friend over who wanted to compare the latest Remastered version of Brothers In Arms (Dire Straights) from Tidal vs my regular issue pressing of Brothers In Arms...he went away in disbelief...
Is using streaming services worthy of an audiophile? @clearthink, I solely meant using Tidal to listen to music. I subscribe to the 44.1 kHz sample rate (the premium) for good sound through my system. If I find new music that is available on vinyl, I buy it. Radio is not what it use to be, nor i...
Is using streaming services worthy of an audiophile? Tidal is fantastic. Tidal is also a good tool to find new vinyl, listen before you buy. |
