My analog journey - time for a new phono stage or?
Sam? After the incredible transformation the Herron line stage made on my sysem, when the phono stage appeared for sale, I got in touch with the owner, and he promised that it would be mine. My son lives near where he does, so they met up, my son...
My analog journey - time for a new phono stage or?
After fairly recently replacing my Modwright  Line Stage  with a Herron Line Stage, and being very impressed with what the Herron did for my system, a Herron VTPH-2A phono pre came avialable (in my area of the country), so I picked it up, and ...
Herron VTPH-2 added to system (almost)
Well, after chasing around for a few days getting my R/H speaker working right again, I finally had time to listen to some vinyl last night. What a pleasure. Chick Corea's Play Wonder, Chopian,  etc; sounded the best my vinyl front end has ever s...
Mystery!
Don't you hate it when that happens? Dan
Do You Play Or Save Your Best Cartridges
After an extended session of finding out why one speaker wasn't sounding quite right, I listeneed to my vinyl again for the first time in a while. I have my Zu Denon 103R still mounted, and with the new (to me) Herron phono stage in the system, I'...

The 300B World
I have been using the ELM 300B XLS tubes for many years, and the amp has been modified a bit by Paul Birkeland to accomodate the differnt voltage required by these tubes (for you aficianados, I don't recall what voltage is involved, but Mr. Birkel...
Herron VTPH-2 added to system (almost)
I don't use any loading at all for my MC cartridges with my old Modwright SWP 9.0 phono stage, with upgraded factory power supply. I recently put my Zu Denon 103R with ESCCO cantilever and stylus back in, and I've never heard it sound better than...
Herron VTPH-2 added to system (almost)
Thank you guys for your good wishes for me. It is exciting for an old guy (not much to get excited about these days, at least nothing good).  I just listened to the first two sides of the tribute to Leonard Cohen, the quietest new vinyl I've ever...
If someone handed you this system, what would you change?
I had a system I enjoyed very much, but, on a whim, I bought a Herron Line Stage. lt,  all by itself, improved the sound of my system far beyond anything else I ever replaced. I'm in the process of acquiring a Herron phono stage, I'm in hope it wi...
After fifty years… amazing. What high end audio can be.
GDH,                         GDH, Myy listening room is the same situation as yours is. When I moved in here (29 years ago, now), My system was on the long wall of the house, due to a large and heavy woodstove on the end wall. After...
After fifty years… amazing. What high end audio can be.
Now at 75, having the best system I've had in 50 years, I couldn't be happier. All it took in the end was a few dollars spent for a quality line stage and that made all the difference. Music is still such a joy to listen to, even at this age I'm ...
Not sure what to think or do...

Cartridge or tonearm problem?
Paul, I'm glad you found the problem, and the best thing is, the fix was free! Happy Holidays, Dan
Cartridge or tonearm problem?
Paul, have you checked to make sure it's only in the phono section? Maybe a speaker connection problem, or interconnect problem? Just keep checking, you're system isn't too complicated, you should be able to find the problem. Good luck, Dan
