Costliest Brainfart
Yep, things like that happen, maybe not all the time, but i know well the feeling of having just shot myself through the foot. It doen't feel good. It makes you think how you might have done it differently, that's for sure. I can't remember anythi...
Superbly quiet LP playback
Oddiophil, I too have always taken good care of my records. Make me wish I had never ventured away from them lo those many years ago, when I decided to give it a another chance. Vinyl was suppossed to be cheap to get into some years ago, but I fo...
Which Vintage Turntable & Which Vintage Cartridge for the turntable?
I recently added an old Shure V-15 Type V (with new stylus) cartridge to my Garrard 401/Dynavector 501 arm/turntable configuration, with new pivot bearing in the Garrard 401 turntable. The sound is magnificent, the best I have experienced in over...
Superbly quiet LP playback
Ghd (I wish I knew your name), It wasn't just "quiet" record surfaces that caused this circumstance, but interaction between the Dynavector 501 arm and the V-15 Type V cartridge. I was told (after purchasing the cartridge) the Dynavector 501 arm s...
New GaN Class-D poweramp from USA manufacturer Class-D Audio, Corona CA
I bought one, and then became tired of the way it sounded. I bought a Hypex Class D amp, put it together, and it's a much better sounding amp. The kit is close to the price of the Claas D Audio amp, I can't remember what I paid, but you can check ...
Dbx 3bx pops
These days, I'm getting maybe a mite more listening pleasure from my analog front end than from digital. Analog has a bit different sound than digital does, but I'm now 76 years old, so I guess I'm due, 'ya know? Enjoy regards, Dan
Dbx 3bx pops
Why don't you  remove the DBX unit, and see how it sounds. I've recently got the best cartridge/tonearm lashup II've tried with this turntable, and I'm hearing the least surface noise, yet the cleanest LP sound I've ever had. It would never occur ...
Best way to clean glossy finish on speakers?
I use Cory Piano Cleaner and Polish. Been many years now, finish is still immaculate. Regards, Dan
A fine realization
Also, it seems most of his communication is done through Faccebook.
A fine realization
Sein makes them for Garrard and Lenco turntables, that's all I know about. Best of luck Dan
Are your listening levels healthy? Doing damage?
After recent upgrades, I find I don't need to listen as loud, it sounds good at any volume that's reasonable. Regards, Dan
Are higher end preamps worth the investment when you are only streaming Tidal & Spotify ?
A new (to me) preamp made me realize my system was much better than I thought it was. Best decision I've ever made in audio. Regards, Dan
How serious are you?
About the same as Cleeds. I love the music, and came to love and be enthused about the gear as well. Always loved to work on stuff as well, so that became a large part of it. Still a great hobby for us old guys, I hope my hearing goes last! Rega...
RIP Robbie Robertson
Bikeboy, thanks for the positive words about my system. Only worry is to keep it all working,, but, just like me (76 YOA), some of it's getting old. But that's a minor worry, equipment can be repaired or replaced, however, we listeners, sometime ...
RIP Robbie Robertson
Yeah, but Mr. Goofyfoot, what can we do about it? I just stay home and listen to good music anytime the mood strikes, though I expect more trouble as I age, I'll do my best to keep smilng  anyway. Going out being miserably unhappy is a lifestyle c...
