Do I NEVER shut it off…? regulated power supply, an amp can be turned off. I think you mean a soft start circuit, not a regulated power supply two very different circuits that do two very different things.
First tube preamp recommendations (under $5k) invalid I talked to the space tech labs guy and the 1 thing I didn't like he wasn't willing to show me the internals (he claims since he doesn't want people to copy him). Its something I don't like about mcintosh either. Most audiophiles don't even...
What ever happened to Mark Levenson? was thinking more Heinrich Hertz... He claims Heinrich Hertz is a distance relative. I think on his mother's side.
First tube preamp recommendations (under $5k) None of the Tech is cheap either.. BUT Art can be expensive, AY?It's not cheap, but it's way cheaper than the big name brands top of the line components.
First tube preamp recommendations (under $5k) A winning circuit design will sound better with cheap parts than a average circuit design with top notch parts.
First tube preamp recommendations (under $5k) Since you mention Don, his preamp would be a contender at far below 5K.It is definitely worth the money, but I don't believe it would compete with the higher end model space tech labs stuff.
First tube preamp recommendations (under $5k) Don SachsDon Sachs used to own one of space tech labs preamps, I believe it was the last preamp he sold after he started making his own, he only had one of the middle of the road space tech preamps.
First tube preamp recommendations (under $5k) BIG valve preamps are gonna be 'ALL THAT" soon enough..The big valves are only part of it, he uses ac heaters, which sounds a little warmer, but not too warm, and true point to point wiring. Some manufacturers use hand wiring, but not true point t...

Do I NEVER shut it off…? The only piece of audio equipment that ever came close to starting a fire was a carver receiver I had in the late 1980's, it shot a big flame out the top cover, so I suppose if I would have put a magazine on top of it there might have been a fire.
Looking for an amp that punches way about its weight and I can grow with second, they all add coloration to the sound so you are not getting true high fidelity because even the best do not have a flat response over the entire audio spectrum, especially when compared to modern day solid state amplifiers. Generally ther...

Bi amp and bias issue You can use a passive line level crossover with attenuators with some speakers, not sure about the magnepans.
Krell KSA 200s power feed The only issue I see is protecting the amp. In the US, we have to reduce the fuse size by half if you go from 120 to 240, and it could be a reason why voltage changeover is usually not user selected -- the user will forget to change the fuse.I nev...
Do I NEVER shut it off…? It's a tube preamp, doesn't run hot you can touch the tubes. I've had the same tubes in it for over 3 years. |
