Space Tech Preamplifier
I have an older model qa112 EH preamp and an super tube rectifier model number STR 104 with a switchable choke and an older model pcm dac. The sound is great, it's dynamic but you still get the tube midrange, but it isn't mushy or bloated. If you ...
Dust Settled Consensus- is the Benchmark AHB2 an Audiophile Amplifier?
No component made is completely neutral from the microphone to the speakers and everything in-between adds or subtracts something, some may do it more than others. Just because a component might measure great doesn't mean it's going to sound close...
Dedicated circuits
Current doesn't always go up when voltage goes down, it's a little more complicated than that.
Microphonic from Vacuum Tubes?
It does it consistently, I believe it's my bluesound node 2 when using the digital output.
Microphonic from Vacuum Tubes?
I get that popping noise on qobuz when a track switches from CD to high resolution and back again.
Dedicated circuits
Voltage drop allowances are not even a NEC requirement, I know I've had voltage drop with my system when I used a carver subwoofer for a short time, even with 20 amp dedicated circuits using 10awg wire.
Active Speakers Better? No, per Michael Borresen
The fun fact is that most studio monitors, i.e. the speakers the producers and sound engineers listen to while the music is being made, are active (near field) speakers. Most of them don't use monitors to listen to music at home.
Active Speakers Better? No, per Michael Borresen
@kota1    Are you using the same amplifier with both active and passive speakers?
Things I don‘t know
Regarding 10mhz clocks, do you want a square wave or a sine wave?
When someone tells you it's a $40,000 amp, does it sound better?
Some people would say the same thing about the difference between a $5,000 and a $500 amp, or some might say a $40,000 amp doesn't compare to a $150,000 amp.
Nearly all manufacturers do not advertise/exhibit their product measurements? Why?
David Gilmour's Astoria recording studio used 23 kilometers of boutique cables, how much do you think that cost them.
Shipping 80lb amps.
Delivery companies, what a racket, it's one of the only business's that makes you pay for insurance in case they can't do their job properly.
Nearly all manufacturers do not advertise/exhibit their product measurements? Why?
You know how much money it would cost to use boutique cables in a recording studio, that's probably the reason they use mogami or belden.
KT-150 Tubes- Push Farther or Replace?
The problem with some of the cheap emissions testers is they only run the tube at 30 volts, some of the better ones maybe up to 150 volts, the kt150 needs to be tested at a higher voltage. The best way to test them is in circuit.
KT-150 Tubes- Push Farther or Replace?
The only thing those emissions testers are good for is maybe telling you if a tube is shorted or dead, the rest of those readings on those types of testers are very suspect.
