Do military/industrial tubes sound better than regular ones ? And to go a little further, military grade and industrial grade - any difference ?
At the top of the line is it really all that different? We've been here before so many times. How well you can hear means a lot, just as how important this audiophilia nervosa is to you. I personally would not spend on audio too much even if I easily could, but it would still be tens of thousands dolla...
Things we cannot be bothered by anymore " Nothing lasts forever ". How do you know it, man ?
Mullard EL34 that sounds best Never heard of them. "Sound very good" is not good enough for me. Either I will stay with SED Winged, that are alright, or will want vintage Mullards.
Things we cannot be bothered by anymore Can't be bothered by any transistor preamps/amps. They may have them, I won't. Can't be bothered by cars that cost as much as good/excellent/great audio system. Can't be bothered by record reissues. No need, I go after originals. Can't be bothe...
Mullard EL34 that sounds best Yeah, but he has an excellent and substantial feedback, and each tube is under $100, so I'll give it a chance. One tube to begin with. Just can't spend that much on new Mullards from Tube Depot, though they have some other Mullards for $300 each ...
Mullard EL34 that sounds best Oh it's fine, we are just talking tubes. Tube Depot has a stock of SEDs EL34, I bought my quad from them. One was defective, only held for 700 hours. Then there is a seller from the UK on ebay who sells, as he says, original Svetlana winged 'C' ...
Unmatched power output tubes. Bad idea ? I see. Thank you. The tubes would be bought from Brent of Audio Tubes, I bought tubes from him before. He himself was not particularly enthusiastic of selling those used unmatched Mullards to me and suggested I contact him in a few months when he ...
For Tube Folks... Since we are talking tubes, does anyone know how long 12AU7 RCA blackplates from 50s usually last ? I don’t mean military/industrial Command blackplates. What about 12AX7 Mullard longplates? I understand it may depend on particular amp. That’s wh...
For Tube Folks... Those SEDs hold the bias well. I mean, the working ones.
For Tube Folks... viridian, alright, I got you. In any case, I don't enjoy throwing out $120 tube after a few months. I have modest resources and can't afford $300-$450 a piece NOS Mullards. Tube Depot sells them with 90 days warranty.
For Tube Folks... Right. Just as I wouldn't buy unplayed record for any significant amount.
For Tube Folks... Currently using a quad of SED winged "C" EL34 in my VAC. One was gone after 700 hours, had a spare. Bought them from Tube Depot. Not very reliable tubes, I guess, or it was just a bad luck.
My Sonus Faber Amatis have weak bass even though I'm running ML 536s--800 w/ch into 4 ohms Do you have other amp ? If you do try it. Maybe something is wrong with the amp not speakers or speakers placement.
For Tube Folks... Does it matter really, strictly NOS or not quite ? |
