I Don't Understand What Determines When A Thread Gets The Axe I guess the "Made In China" thread was the lastest to bite the dust. . . . (I wonder why.)
12AX7A preamp tubes - ribbed vs smooth plate @immatthewj amps use a variety of small signal tubes in their inputs it's also possible the OP is referring to an integrated amp. If this is the same amp(s?) that OP was referring to a while back ago with (I think I remember him saying) 16 outp...
12AX7A preamp tubes - ribbed vs smooth plate preamp tubes for an amplifier ?
Are there other people like me ? Amazed by their low cost system :) "The lady doth protest too much, methinks" Ha ha!
How important is the efficiency of a speaker to you? If you want/like 8 ohm 86 dB sensitivity speakers you will most likely have to go with a high watt output solid state amp (>150 watts). It takes 150 wpc plus (ss) to drive a speaker rated at 86 db?
How does a preamp die from sitting unused for a few months? OP, did you solve the mystery?
B&W 802 D2 Capacitors Worth Upgrading? @allenf1963 , I think that part of the tubed pre in front of SS amp appeal might be related to heat and maintenance. Meaning that an amp that utilizes output tubes can run pretty hot and also requires occasional bias checks & adjustments and a...
Don’t look for perfection. I have a tendency to immediately dismiss a record if I hear a flaw, Your standards are higher than mine. I respect you for that.
I Don't Understand What Determines When A Thread Gets The Axe Alan Parsons Project got a thread killed? Seriously? I could understand it if it was REO. . . .
Are there other people like me ? Amazed by their low cost system :) Went through a few posts here and the only conclusion I came to is that you are offended by whatever words others choose. +1 @milpai .
Audio Research Replacement Tubes I have always noted that when my output tubes were getting tired or sick I would start getting goofy bias readings.
Handling Heavy Amps I believe that Cary listed my V 12 to be eighty pounds and change. I bought it in ’01 when I was 41 and in great shape. I actually had to climb up a few steps on a ladder to put it where I had it at the time. The last time I had to move it from t...
Why do some amplifiers throw a bigger soundstage than others? there are resonances occurring in the system that are causing an effect of reverberation. Examples include feedback That seems plausible.
Are there other people like me ? Amazed by their low cost system :) What means a Rhetorical question for you ? A question that you already have answered in your own mind. A question that no other answers will make any difference to you.
Why do some amplifiers throw a bigger soundstage than others? Back in the late ’90s a dealer let me take home a Mesa Baron for the weekend. I was immediately intrigued and impressed by how up front and close the soundstage was (particularly the vocalist) and how it filled the room to an extent I had never e... |
