"The Mystery Of Sound Is Mysticism"
And now, after it's been pointed out that you posted 13 times in a row, you post 4 times in a row. So very sad. Add eight more in a row.
Are You A Disciplined Audiophile?
Another thread that has attracted that same....tired...droning sound. Is there anywhere free from that repeating siren? In a word:  no.
Loud pop/screech when powering on amp
thanks for the replies! @noromance i don’t recall seeing anything about red dot hot side? Do you think using the original power cable will help? @kingbr , I am not sure if this is what noromance was referring to, but if the outlet is wired corr...
Tube Depot's "NOS vacuum tube sale"
@whart  , I did buy some tubes (12au7s, 6922s, 6550s) from Andy back before 9/11 and I was mostly happy.  As far as Tube Depot goes, I do note that some of the vintage tubes they have on sale are specifically listed as having light use on them.  T...
Should Amps be plugged into a power conditioner?
I use a power strip in my system but the amps are not plugged into it- they run off of AC lines of which they are the sole user. My preamp is pretty heavily regulated so it tends to be immune to power cords and the like and the rest of the system...
Qualities Of An End-game System
Bank accounts drained? Hopefully not too much in debt? Yes, that is a definite game ender.
Should Amps be plugged into a power conditioner?
@atmasphere  Current limiting starts at the power cord. Any time you have a glorified power strip, like so many so-called 'power conditioners' seen marketed to the high end audio community, the power cord it uses will have a voltage drop. is a...
Should Amps be plugged into a power conditioner?
Going on 25 or 30 years ago, a dealer in Philly sold me on these power conditioners he carried (a brand I've never hear of since).  He was skilled at selling me on stuff, and he swore up and down that ALL my eqipment should be plugged into it and ...
Tube Depot's "NOS vacuum tube sale"
. . . SED Winged C EL34s that are theoretically NOS for only $100 a pop and all I need are a dozen. . . .
Qualities Of An End-game System
I’m tired of chasing That sort of brougt to mind something Steve Earle was quoted as saying, something to the effect of,  "Cocaine is like golf, it's white, you hit it, and then you chase it all day." However, better sound isn't white and you ...
Qualities Of An End-game System
For many myself included, it is not the qualities, but the lack of quantity in the cash department that will dictate what is our endgame system. I'd go along with that.  I'd like some different/better speakers.  And I guess I'd also like to try...
A used pair of Fujitsu Ten Eclipse TD712 Z Bookshelf Speakers at TMR
Down sides I agree with in your quote and I’d add they didn’t do dynamics very well (think orchestral music, rock etc etc). Otherwise, if you’re into mellow listening, they were really good. I don’t know that I would have called my preference (...
Qualities Of An End-game System
@calvinj  , with certain discs (in my system mostly SACDs) I can get that.  But I am assuming from most of the content of this thread that the OP considers "end game" to be beyond that.
A used pair of Fujitsu Ten Eclipse TD712 Z Bookshelf Speakers at TMR
Thanks @sunshdw  , I just did a google on the AR VS i60, and 50 wpc did the trick, huh?  That's what I was really curious about, as with a sensitivity of 83.5 and being a 6 ohm load, I would have thought they might need some serious wpc to move th...
805 SET Monoblocks
@decooney  , oops, I missed your post. Yes, I remember comparing Cary V-12 (EL-34) biasing notes with you and also the subject of Cary customer service (or lack of). As far as the 805s go, back in the mid '90s I worked with a guy who got interes...
