totem winds destroy dali helicon mk2
I think the Totem designer has very good ears and all their products really excell within their price points. I couldn't be happier with my Forests.
Totem Forest or Mani-2 signature?
In case it matters, the Forest is also their most efficient model. If you want to try other amps in the future you will not find yourself needing to hunt down something super powerful to please the speakers.
Monoblocks, Speaker Placement?
Speaker placement is no more or less difficult or important with mono amps. What can be important is amp placement. If you are tempted to place the amps on the floor by the speakers, get down on your hands and knees and listen to the sound in vari...
Looking for ACCURATE SPEED turntable/tonearm combo
How about finding a table with a sound you really like, and then adding a speed controller like the Walker? Yes, the Walker is very expensive. And, like most High End products, there is not much inside the box to justify it. However, as far as sou...
Nottingham
Are you still on the original Nottingham base, or directly on your turntable stand? I used a Mapleshade 4" solid maple base under mine and it made a huge improvement even with the original feet.
Genuine Telefunken?
Yes, it is the diamond mark that prooves they are genuine. I have never seen it on any other tube. Labeling is delicate and can rub off with very little handling. The smoothe and ribbed do not sound the same. Both are great, but it is a matter of ...
Best budget phono preamp for Unison Unico?
Try to stretch your budget and look towards a used Wright phono pre. They appear here now and then. Unlike anything for 250.00, It is good enough that you won't feel the need to upgrade in the future.
tube cd player with solid state amp and preamp
The Cayin 50T tube integrated amp looks very appealing to someone who has little to spend on a tube amp. More tube bang for the buck than getting a CD player.
What's the bottom line on Oppo 980 for CD playback
Jylee, I know it is odd, but I don't always find the HiFi price to coincide with what I enjoy. For example, I liked my Proceed player much more than a few others that cost twice as much. Your probably right about comparing the $1000.Cary to the $2...
What's the bottom line on Oppo 980 for CD playback
Tgrisham, if you find the Oppo quite capable, could you please tell me what other CD playback you are used to? I assume you never had any problem with skipping, etc. on CD's. Thanks for your input
Gas or Charcoal
It's Weber charcoal grill/Chimney lighter/soy ink newspaper for me because it's "real" System is all tubed and analogue dedicated because it also is "real"
Spade connectors from Romex to outlet?
Remember that the wire is solid, not stranded. Spades rely on the compression of the stranded wire to crimp or screw down. Connection may loosen over time with solid wire. It would be a shame to burn down the house because of your stupid Stereo. (...
Does the Step 4 final rinse for Walker Prelude help?
Sorry to get slightly off the subject, but, can you tell me where on the Belafonte Lp I should be hearing street noise and the Subway?
What goes beneath your Nottingham?
When I had a Spacedeck I replaced the stock base with a Mapleshade 4" thick maple block. Huge improvement. Never did get around to messing with the orig. rubber feet, but that also should improve things.
Cartridge mounting
First, carefully install just the inner screw leaving it a bit loose. Now the cart. is attatched and (reasonably) safe from damage. Then you can twist the back of the cart. towards you for easier access to attatch the wires. Then add the second sc...
