Attention Thorens experts
It's not the phillips screws. They fasten the arm "board" to the subchassis. On bottom of the arm pillar you will see two allen headed set screws. One on the right and one on the rear. Loosen these to raise or lower the arm for VTA adjustment. Try...
The Hub: Acoustic Research - second in a series
Thanks Bill, these are the HiFi companies that I grew up with and it is always a pleasure to hear more about them. I often wonder why more modern speakers don't use the acoustic suspension design. Seems like most everything is ported these days. I...
Hands Down Better than the Stingray?
Thanks for that link Shadorne. As a kid, I lived for Fireball XL5 and Supercar. Somehow, I never saw Stingray. Had totally forgot about them. What fun!

Some advice on your Playstation idea: If you want to get the best out of it, you must, at the very least, fabricate an RCA outlet connected to the onboard multipin output. The onboard RCA's invert phase and send the signal through an additional IC...
Totem Forest and Budget Amplifiers
I've been very happy with 15 watt tube mono's on the Forests. However, I would caution you that this combo needs to play above "bedroom" levels to sound right. So, you may need even more power for your situation. Funny, how low volume listening ca...
Name your lame duck artist........
Another vote for Sheryl Crow. Also, your'e gonna hate this, but, the Black Eyed Peas and U2. It seems, the more popular artists become, the more I am dumbfounded by their lack of talent. Hey, Kristopherson CAN write.
Grado cartridge-How to identify

Where is Wright Audio?
Sadly, George Wright has died and since he WAS the company, it has passed on as well.
Favorites Alone In Quiet Darkness
Jerry Garcia singing "Black Peter" on the live "Bears Choice" LP. Very haunting in the dark.
Dynavector 10X5 , 20XH, or, other
OK, I know, I know. The 17 is the right choice for me and really the one I want. If overnite they magically came out with a high output version, I would go for it immediately. But, I am trying to keep from having to add a step up, cables, etc. I f...
ProAc vs Totem vs Usher, please comment
Can't comment on the Usher or Proacs, but am very happy here with the Forests after 10+ years of Magnepan IIIA's. Not that I think the forests are necessarily "better". I consider them both to be at similar levels of attainment but very different....
Anyone Going to the Axpona Show in March in Jackso
Yes Photon, you are right. These orchestras and halls would go broke depending on me for support. Sometimes though, good seats are hard to get and I wish the sleepers would just stay home. It might reduce the scent of too much bad perfume and moth...
Genalex Gold Lion EL84
I bought them too and am very impressed. I would say that they might be the best new production EL84. However, the NOS Mullard was always my favorite and I don't think the Gold Lions are quite as good in all ways. The GL's seem a bit too tight in ...
Best 6 inch speaker cable suggestions needed.
Frankk, your findings are interesting to me since they contradict what Pierre at Mapleshade has been promoting for years... that 8 feet sounds better than shorter lengths under all circumstances. I'm using 4 feet and have often wondered if this wa...
When will rap music be less mainstream?
Rap sucks! So does HipHop. They will probably be embraced by the general public forever. I spent 2 years working next door to one of those places that installs the killer car stereos and big wheels that make your crappy old Caprice look like a cov...
