What is your take on high efficient speakers vs. low efficient speakers?
It's rather like comparing cars, once accompanied a friend with his 5 litre V8 to a track day. He was whopped all day by a couple of 1.8 litre Lotus, on a straight track the Lotus loses on proper race track there the V8 loses. Which experience do ...
Does a DAC need a large/strong power supply?
Many hifi designers believe you are essentially listening to a power supply that is merely controlled and regulated by your pre and power amps?
Go get out your pitchforks, I’ve done a sacrilegious thing. . .
Over 40 years in this annoying obsession that masquerades as a hobby and I would decry equalises and the like as tools of the devil. Until. I had a music room built, I upgraded my system to what I wanted.  I plugged it all in and disaster, it soun...
Replacing Vincent SA 31MK any experience?
Budget USD$3000
Speaker polyamory -- or, stories about getting a second set to alternate with your primary
I have a minidsp between my pre and power amps, For my usual quite high volume listening it is in and set to get rid of some really bad room bass. Further by small very excellent Audio Physic Sitara 25 have the bass restricted to above 60Hz and th...
Whats playing on your system today?
Grace Jones - Nightclubbing, superb production.
Adding a sub. - can i start with one?
I have a small room, 3.2 x 4.5 m, of odd shape, 2 smaller subwoofers solved my horrendous bass issues, one big one did not. For awkward rooms 2 subs can work wonders. I hear that big subs fill the room with bass, that was my experience, it totally...
Phono Stage Amp
The Vincent PHO 701 is a tube phono pre amp its output is greater than the MF, also the wide dynamic range will assist. Gets very good reviews. Whilst not into vinyl, anymore, I have heard it perform very well with tube amplification.
Which pair of speakers changed your Hifi life?
Royd Doublet, bought them in 1997, I must have bought 5 pairs of more expensive speakers by KEF, Yamaha, Mission, and others.  Eventually replaced by Audio Physic Sitara 25. But over 20 years in front line service, still in use at a mates place.
What do you consider the most when choosing a pair of speakers?
Does my foot tap, if not don't buy them.
Just got a new Bluesound Node. Very disappointed!
I auditioned the Bluesound Node together with the Lindemann Limetree Bridge, I found the BSN did improve with better outboard DAC's but only marginally, with the Lindemann the better the DAC the better it sounded.
Best Sound Track Ever Vote for One
McVicar - the Who
For those that have separate Streamers & DACS
Lindemann Limetree Bridge with Denafrips Ares 2. Good combination for the prices paid, both discounted made it even better.  Preferred over Sonore mR that it replaced and Lumin Mini which I tried.
what’s a song cover that you think is better than the original?
Grace Jones - In Crowd Randy Crawford - Imagine UB40 - Ain't no sunshine Joe Cocker - A little Help from my Friends
Uneven room dimensions/reflections = uneven toe in as solution?
My speakers have a backwards rake, however I find the soundstage better if they are at zero rake, maybe even -1 or -2 degrees, due to their height with tweeter above ear level. Also I have a very unsymmetrical relatively small (3.1 x 4.5 m) room i...
