Are there any current high end dipole speakers (dynamic)?
I read that there were some open baffles speakers on Capitol Audio Fest (I live in Europe and can't go to American shows). Going to a show is kind of a nice way to see what is out in the market right now, although they tend to mostly show the more...
Do any of these interest you at all? (If you had the money)(Which I don't)
I have heard smaller models of at least Focal, Acapella, Verity and Wilson. All of them sounded great. I would like to hear these as well but I would probably never buy them.I am especially curious about Goldmund and Nola. Here is a reviewers impre...
Going Battery Powered
Don't stoo at the 12V parts, get a battery that handles it all ;-)http://www.enjoythemusic.com/superioraudio/equipment/0218/Stromtank_S2500_Battery_Power_Review.htmIt is probably good but it costs a lot.
Borresen Acoustics Speakers - Have you heard them & what did you think?
I just heard the 3 and they were amazing. Out of my price range of course. Sounded clear and relaxed at the same time. The guy showing them also said that they work in both smaller and larger rooms.I started a new thread about them since I had mis...
Time to get up to speed (somewhat) with digital.
I like my Dragonfly Black but there is also the Red and the new Cobalt. All of them has gotten good reviews. I think you coild be happy wirh anyone of them for tears to come. You can also try Ifi nano black or one of their more expensive versions.
High value, giant killer speakers?
Everyone's favorite is a "giant killer". I agree somewhat with this. That said one new favourite is Dutch & Dutch 8. About $10k with amps and dac built in. I hope I can save money for those.
Standmount speakers. I have $5000.
I like Boenicke W5 and thete are a pair here on Audiogon now. They are very small and cute, your spouse may like them. Very natural sound. Might be a little too small for your room but they fill a lot more than you think from the look.
Considering simplifying my system... talk me down (or whatever)
Congrats to the good hearing after years as a music lover! If you like your system you don't have to change anything but if you want to, or think a smaller system would suit you better in the long run thete are a lot of pretty serious integrated a...
Why discussions generate into personal affronts...
Go @elizabeth !I do hope that forums will become better and not worse over time but I am not sure that will happen soon unless there are new mods and mabye new rules.
Standmount speakers. I have $5000.
Totem One used to be good, now there is Signature One.https://totemacoustic.com/product/signature-one/
Need Perfect Speakers for Acoustically Hostile Placement
Buchardt S400 might work. Some speaker with a sealed box should work better than a reflex ported.
What's a really great Streamer/DAC box for just streaming Tidal?
You could get a Raspberry Pi and use as streamer and then connect it to almost any dac you choose. This may leave you with more budget for the dac since the RPi only costs about $100 with a box. Here are some videos about this but you can search fo...
Amazon just killed Tidal
It seems to be just $14.95 per month without Prime which is a good price. If you include the cost for Prime the total seems to become between $21 and $26 per month. Seems like higher price than Tidal or Qobuz but it is of course good if you alr...
List your state of art headphones for smart phone use!
If you can go up in price you can try Focal Elegia. Seems to get good reviews.https://www.innerfidelity.com/content/focal-elegia-review
High value, giant killer speakers?
I think the Kii Three has a very competitive price since it contains an amp and a dac. That said we as a community probably have too too many ideas of what a system should sound like to really have generic "gigant killers"
