Another Analog v. Digital Thread? Not Really
@akgwhiz a lot of people thinks that R2R dacs are warmer and better than more common dacs. For very expensive dacs tech does not seem to matter, they perfect whatever they use.I think I heard a Kallista Dreamplay a few days ago, in a very good sys...
Best speakers out there for Midrange and Highs
Since you have Raidho on your list you could also check out Borresen 01 from the old Raidho designer. A bit more expensive but they are working on a cheaper model. Or get the 03 model that is for sale now on Agon. I have heard the 05 and they were...
Upgrading my blusound streamer
Naim NDX2 is said to be a really good streamer although expensive. See if you can listen to it somewhere. Then you have Lumin and Aurender.
Streaming + DAC questions. Please help this noob!
I am not sure the Bluesound is much better than the Beetle, try before you buy.You can also try Audioquest Cobalt and connect to your computer. Or the Chord Mojo or iFi Micro Dac.
Does the 'Buck' Start with the DAC?
Maybe check out dCS Bartok? It has both dac and streamer  https://www.stereophile.com/content/dcs-bartok-da-processorheadphone-amplifierOtherwise, as a pure guess, I would start with 20k dac and 10k streamer.
Need suggestions for a $1500 used system for my daughter.......
You can build an RPi yourself with a Hifiberry board.  Or buy an Allo the Boss Player and skip the dac in the Peachtree.https://www.hifiberry.com/products/digiplus/https://volumio.org/product/allo-boss-player/
Need suggestions for a $1500 used system for my daughter.......
The Volumio Primo looks like a good streamer. If she is not an audiophile yet she can start with just a tablet and possibly upgrade later.https://darko.audio/2019/06/a-short-film-about-the-volumio-primo/
Preferred Digital Music File Backup?
I use Google drive since it is cheap and I don't have much music. If I would have more I would try Backblaze. And of course a local copy on a USB-disk.I would not only use a local disk.https://www.backblaze.com/cloud-backup.html
$30K DAC in a $70K system - wise or ridiculous?
I would probably go for the Focal Scala Utopia Evo and sell the Kanta and then get a somewhat cheaper dac, like $12k.
Does the 'Buck' Start with the DAC?
I guess in the lower price point, say <$2500 I would spend more on the dac. After that I would try different things. If I ever get to that. This one looks like a good start for a streamer.https://volumio.org/product/volumio-primo/
Nice retro looking amp from Sweden 🇸🇪
I like the look and the description. I am a Swede and have read about it but it is new and there are not many reviews yet. It is also outside my current budget but I hope it sells well and spreds to other countries.
Does Anyone Know Much About Chord Electronics Amplifiers?
I think it is much more important that they improve the sound that the measured performance, especially if that was already pretty good. I have not heard any Chords for a long time but assume they should sound good.
Could this be one reason tubes (and perhaps records) sound better?
I think most designers already knows this but has to find a combination from a lot of parameters. For example the designer of many Parasound amps has said that he worked hard to avoid the 7th harmonics since that don't sound good at all but many c...
Considering Moving to an Integrated, Opinions Appreciated
I recently heard the Ayre EX-8 in a small tool with Boenicke W5. Great combo and this small speakers really filled the room! The Ayre is a bit outside your budget but if you well something it may work. Or looks för 2nd hand. I have also heard many ...
I have to downsize big time, any ideas on integrated amps and smaller 3 way speakers
I am sorry to hear about your cancer, I hope you get better. For downsizing I would either go with an integrated with built-in streamer or an active speaker and then a separate streamer. The first type could be a Hegel H390 or H590 or an Ayre. I jus...
