AFFORDABLE (under $1K) Best SS and Tube Amps for HD600 Just a thought, you could get a new pair of headphones for less than $1k which may make a bigger improvement. I would probably look at Focal Elex or some Beyerdynamic phones and then save for some better amp.
~$6K mini-monitor recommendations? Have not heard the Boenicke W5 as desktop but 6moons tried them and said they work there too. They will of course image better with a normal setup. Great speakers in any case.https://6moons.com/audioreviews/boenicke5/1.html
What country builds the best audio equipment? I am with @mjcmt on this No country has the monopoly on the best quality equipment.
Fairly new to streaming. Where to start? If you are only gonna play ripped music a simple RaspberryPi with a dac should work great. You can buy them with built-in dac-cards or with inteface cards to connect to an external dac (I use this right now).If you can tinkle a bit with it yoursel...
Fairly new to streaming. Where to start? I got this idea from Aurender CEO in a interview. He does not let hdd do the playing. OK for storage, but hdd hands off to SSiD for play. Thus the question as to whether the vault has ssid and therefore a better player? I think this level of de...
Looking for a hybrid integrated to do it all! If you can skip the tube requirement then Hegel h190 should work. Integrated with built-in dac and streamer. Has gotten a lot of good reviews. I have only heard the h590 briefly but that sounded good. http://www.the-ear.net/review-hardware/hegel-...

Speakers that can reveal orchestral instruments' positions I think omnidirectional speakers generally have very large soundspaces but may be a bit less detailed in their 3d. Try to see if you like this or a more focused 3d from a conventional speaker.I heard the Bacch SP processor at an audio show. It alt...
High Sensitivity Speakers A fun alternative that I haven't heard and that may have to be online ordered. Maybe you can find similar models from other brands?https://youtu.be/eAgq87JWCcw
High Sensitivity Speakers Do they have JBL?Seems to be popular and easy to drive. I have only heard a smaller pair and long time ago the great JBL K2.https://youtu.be/N24qY7KYRnA
Separates or Integrated? What makes more sense? Seems like there has been a lot of work on new integrated amps and they are now much better than 10 or 20 years ago. One I heard at an audio show that was really good was Absolare.I have mainly seen plus sides of separates described in this thread... |
