Any suggestions for middle eastern music Try Charles Lloyd's Sangem. It's heavily infused with middle eastern flavor and an fantastic recording to boot.
Mcintosh Separates... I listed to the MA7000 and the C220/MC252 combo a couple of weeks ago at a dealer. I thought the MA7000 sounded better, even though its based on the same amp. It was clearer in the highs, more detailed, but still very refined sounding. I thought t...
Spendor speakers I've got the current S8E's and they sound fantastic. Smooth but extended highs, really good bass, terrific imaging... a great speaker in any age, and they do come up used from time to time here on A-Gon.
Sota Sapphire with or without vacuum? I'm running a Star Sapphire w/ vacuum - I've never tried it without the vacuum, but in general it has very deep bass, lots of clarity and a very smooth top. It sounds great!
Bass Clarinet Recordings Thanks for the responses. I did check out a David Murray record called Deep River. It only had two tracks with BC, but its a great album. The recording is fantastic. Possibly the widest soundstage I've ever heard in my system.
Looking for an integrated ... Listened to the McIntosh MA7000 last week. 250W into 8, MM P-stage. Don't know about the HT passthrough. Really nice sounding unit though.
Interconnects for Rotel. I just put two pairs of Nordost Blue Heavens in my system and they sound great. They are used, but I'm not finding them bright at all, so you might want to try burning them in for a few days before taking them back. System is a Rotel pre and PA an...
Charles Lloyd suggestions While you're at it, you might want to check out Dewey Redman. Very similar sounding player, but with -unfortunately - less discography. Check out 'The Struggle Continues', newly re-issued on ECM.
The Bad Plus - where to start? if you ever get a chance to see them live, you will never see another drummer enjoying beating the crap out of his kit like this guy! Loads of fun!
Mcintosh MC 252 vs. 402 thanks for the responses. is anyone out there currently using either of these amps with Spendor S8es?
Cambridge 840c burn in I'm certain at this point that the sound continued to change on this player for at least eight weeks. Just kept getting smoother. Still a little drier than vinyl, but very nice. Great bass.
Sota Star Sapphire III with Revel Gems? I've got a series III star Sapphire and it plays wonderfully. They mate really well with SME arms. I don't think you could go wrong with this as a source.
anyone use ikea for lp racks? make sure to use the wall anchors.
Cambridge 840c burn in just to update this... I've had the 840C in my system for about two months now and maybe I'm kidding myself, but I would swear the sound continued to smooth out for at least six weeks. It's to the point now where cds that used to think were hopele...
Jelco Tone Arms 9 and 12 inch I have an AudioQuest PT-6 on my Sota. Easy to use. Simple to adjust. Stays set up the way you set it up. VTA is a pain with just an allen screw but that's my only complaint. Sounds very nice with an Audio Technica OC-9. |
