how can a line cord affect frequency response ?
An afterthought: are'nt we looking for a "unified theory of audio"?As in physics:)?Maybe we can get Pr S Hawking on our board...:)
how can a line cord affect frequency response ?
Tvad notes:Data is data(...)Whether the specs in the data correlate to improvement in sound is open to subjective interpretation.I'd agree in principle with what follows -- BUT data and their correlation would be "objective". You probably mean tha...
Machina Dynamic Brilliant Pebbles?
I tried brilliant pebbles and didn't notice much of a difference (they look funny).Matt pebbles were better; I think that's the version Danlib1 is referring to above.
Earthquakes, speaker stands, and Snell E
Screw the spkrs onto the stands, add weight (if possible) at the bottom of the stands (make them nottom heavy) and, if you wish, change 2 spikes with rollers to allow freedom of movement.
Help Me Locate Neuance?
Or, neuance
Aleph 5 passive vertical bi-amping?
Try driving the bass with any old ss amp at hand (with sufficient output)and check out the result -- before you actually buy an Aleph. Your pre would have to be capable of driving a more difficult load (two paralleled amps). I expect there wouldn;...
Does your system always sound good?
Yes -- as long as I don;t touch the speakers. It sounds "good" or slightly better than its "good" within the limitations of mains power and my perception (i.e. ambient noise 25-40db; moods: volatile; 3yr old: 112db, etc).I suppose the system's own...
does a stereo system sound like live music ?
Guidocorona sez the proposition,"How many anally retentive audiophiles can dance on the outer edges of my soundstage?" is undecidable. Actually, I think that's quantifiable IF we all agree on the definition of anal- retentive. Then it would just b...
Aleph 5 passive vertical bi-amping?
Well, you'd be doubling the power (that's +3db /side). But how do you propose to do that -- unless you disconnect the woofer from the internal xover & introduce an outboard low pass. Asaik, they don't have double binding posts (i.e. "biwire")....
Aleph 5 passive vertical bi-amping?
That really depends on the spkrs rather than the amp. I'm sure the Aleph won't mind. But passive biamping is a bit of overkill -- no? Why not use a passive line level xover instead? Far better results there...
Who makes speakers with relaxed high freq.?
Tsk, tsk, Gonglee... Lowthers are hardly relaxed up high + they cost a fortune as drive units (more when included in spkrs of course).I would suggest (as others have) designs dating to early-mid '90s. Many spkrs were "laid back" then
what is the purpose of a stereo system ?
Admittedly an interesting take on the matter!
Output voltage for Music Hall cd-25?
The standard is 2V -- but that doesn't precisely answer yr question.Underwood HiFi should know, however. Ask not only the voltage, but also, the output IMPEDANCE: reference (usually measured @ 1kHz) & max;also calculate the wattage. You need en...
WILL THE NEW 60,000 AVALON ISIS BE THE BEST YET?
Buy a kit based on a tried design by a confirmed engineer (often the same engineers who design spkrs for commercial manufacturers). You'll get the mechanical design for the cabinet, the electronic parts, matls... Spend a WE assembling it -- and yo...
