Finding Rare Vinyl
Why not tell us specifically what you're looking for? Just an idea.
what would you change if anything, in this set up?
Well, you can't do much about the glass wall, but that's obviously going to affect things considerably. If it were up to me, I'd think about ways of putting a blind or curtain on that side, one that could be retracted as needed to enjoy the good v...
Preamp with quality MC phono section
I've been pleased with the MC phono section on the McIntosh C2300 preamplifier, which is well under your budget. Currently using it with a Dynavector XX-2 cartridge and have had very good results.
Miles Davis
OK, what's the name of the Miles Davis record that you are talking about?
Mcintosh owners tube discussion
Miner42: curious about what differences you noticed with Psvane Treasures tubes versus stock C2300 tubes? And what's the price? Still running the stock tubes here and wondering what I'm missing . . .
Help me pick a great phono cable
Thanks to everyone who replied to my query about phono cables. For now, per various suggestions and a good used deal, I've moved to a Harmonic Technology Silver Crystal RCA-RCA cable. Installed the other day, and so far it sounds very good, althou...
Music to Impress my Kid's Friends?
I'm not very interested in "impressing" anyone who listens to music at my place, so I don't get caught up in that kind of thing. I put the system together for personal enjoyment of recordings that I like. But I can say that if guests want to hear ...
Help me pick a great phono cable
I should have added that this will need to be an RCA-terminated cable, as the VPI turntable is equipped with its standard RCA junction box. Thanks!
Tokyo vinyl and audio suggestions

Tokyo vinyl and audio suggestions
Oops. I meant to say, in the second paragraph: "Kyoto and the surrounding area of Southern *Japan*."
Weak Bass from my SP 1/2s
In my opinion, you are way underpowered with the NAD 25 watt unit. I run my Spendor SP1/2E speakers with a McIntosh MC352 stereo amplifier, and I supplement the bass with a REL Stentor II subwoofer. Before getting the REL, I was not happy with the...
Top jazz trios piano, bass, drums on vinyl?
Almost forgot to add the under-appreciated Wynton Kelly, best known as the "other" piano sideman on Miles Davis's famous "Kind of Blue" LP and one of my personal favorites as a trio player. On KOB, Kelly plays on on the bluesy "Freddy Freeloader" ...
Top jazz trios piano, bass, drums on vinyl?
Try Hank Jones (piano) with the "Great Jazz Trio" (different personnel on various LPs). Hank worked very well in trios and is a great player himself.
Who listens only to vinyl?
95% vinyl for the past dozen years or so. You can check my system link for gear, but you'll see that it's modest by comparison with a lot of folks on this site. LP records just sound better and less fatiguing to me, and that's why I listen to them...
If you had $2000 to upgrade this system...
The Totem Forests are quite good speakers, but they'll be more satisfying IMHO if you add a decent subwoofer. A quality subwoofer is well within your budget. You might also consider that your amplification may be on the low-powered side for loudsp...
