Better stands for Spendor SP100?
My strong recommendation for Spendor speaker stands is Sound Anchor. Heavy steel, spiked, rock-solid, beautifully made. I have a pair under my Spendor SP1/2E speakers (similar in size to the SP100's), and they work great.Jim
Better than Aries Scout?: the New VPI Scoutmaster
Hi Doug,Thanks very much for the thoughtful suggestions about my turntable upgrade path. I'm not an experienced DIY technician, so I've not thought seriously before of the Teres route. But I like the idea of using the RB-250 (modified) on the new ...

Mandolin music
Some good suggestions already, esp. Grisman, but I'd also recommend going back to the master, Bill Monroe, before you decide for good that bluegrass mandolin is not what you're after. Grisman's got the jazzy complexity, but no one has topped old B...
So you're an audiophile - are you also a musician?
My daughter (age 11) is an excellent classical violinist and a pianist, so any hi-fi investments are simply part of her education expenses! I'm also an amateur bluegrass muscian (banjo, guitar, mandolin). There are certainly a lot of musician-audi...
Recommendation for guitar duo CD
Some good suggestions already, including the Demeola, McLauglin, Paco de Lucia recording. Also check out anything by Bucky and John Pizzarelli, a wonderful New York father-son jazz team. "Passion Guitars" is the one I listen to often, and it is ve...
