The end of LP collecting????
Thanks for the post Chazzbo, which lays out the current LP situation pretty well. I say this after studying it for a long time though... Why all the crazy grammar and brain-bending typos? Why not run a spell check on your prose? And maybe throw in...
College budget reveiver help
Strongly urge you to look into the NAD line of receivers for home theater. The 700 series is excellent and within your price range; you won't be disappointed.~Jim
VPI Scout w/ JMW-9 vs Aries w/ JMW-10
Totally agree with Vikvilkhu's comment above about the Aries. I decided to go with the Aries Black Knight w. 9" arm and Dynavector 17d2 cartridge. This is a great sounding (and great looking) set up, in my opinion, and it's an interesting variant ...
amp rec for spendors
I've been asking the same question about powering my Spendor SP1/2E loudspeakers. At the moment I'm using a Linn LK-2 amplifier, w. 60 wpc, which is quite a musical piece, but I'm getting restless for a different kind of amplifier esp. to improve ...
Jazz Recommendations.
The best answer to the question is... Mr. Miles Dewey Davis III on trumpet, pre-1968. The other good answers join Mr. Davis on various of these recordings.

good recordings of Bob Marley
The Simply Vinyl release of Marley's "Kaya" on heavy vinyl is one of the better Marley recordings I've heard.
Looking for Cello and Guitar
Are you thinking only of classical music? Norman and Nancy Blake play guitar and cello on a number of their recordings. But this is traditional Appalachian music/bluegrass/old-time stuff. And they are very good indeed in those styles.
mother passed away - pro recording help needed
Please accept my sincere condolences.Use a DAT portable deck, good minidisc recorder, or Sony D6C cassette player. Don't use a cheap mic, as you seem to be after the nuances. Use a "Low Cost Core-Sound" binaural microphone. You will be stunned by ...
Perfect Soundtrack for Stylish Sunday Lunch?
Can't go wrong with Gillian Welch's, "Soul Journey" and "Time (The Revelator)." In my opinion, her work is state-of-the-art Americana, which the overseas friends might like. Or, more mellow, Bill Evans, "Waltz for Debby."

Evangelical Denos in the War Against MP3
There's a fantastic demo cut on Harry James, _The King James Version_ (Sheffield Labs LP, direct-to-disk).It's called "Corner Pocket," and is a Count Basie tune if memory serves me correctly. Turn up the volume and prepare to be blown away! If thi...
Spendor, Meadowlark, Audes, in contention 2+K used
Ken,Very nice looking system! I'll bet it sounds great. Given your stated listening preferences, and your interest in Spendor, you may wish to keep the Spendor SP1/2E on your list. Used, you can find them at a price within your budget. They won't ...
