EL34 in triode vs 300B/845 SET one more thing to consider is tube replacement cost 300b's are rather expensive compared to most other tube types. descent ones are $150 each and up lets not even talk about NOS 300b's
Tonearm comparison, Rega vs Zeta, anyone? if you still have the acrylic arm board go buy an aluminum one from oracle they are a huge step up and look way better too. and reasonably priced, get a service kit while your at it if it has not been done already.
Looking for opinions on components for a vintage tube system and 90's solid state I picked up the table from an original local owner and it was in very good original condition so other then a quick clean and lube it was perfect. Looking for opinions on components for a vintage tube system and 90's solid state I went through the whole Garrard 301 Build last year and have not regretted it at all. I went from a oracle Delphi mk 4 and the Garrard has much more PRAT and musicality. worth every penny. I did the 301 with a custom bamboo plinth and Jelco 750l ...
EL34 in triode vs 300B/845 SET your obviously going to have different power outputs with the different tubes. so if power is a concern that may be the driver of your choice. all those tubes sound great in a good amp with slight differences. biggest being your going to be compar...

Blown speaker or crossover opinion you will need to take the driver out and put a meter across it to see if the voice coil is blown. if that is ok then look to the cross over. also as I don't know anything about your speakers a shot in the dark here is do they have a fuse in them? ...
Wet Cleaning records makes things worse? sounds like your not doing a good deep clean of the groves. If the record has not been played it can look new but there will be a build up of gunk, mold, etc in the grove that's what your seeing when you play it, its the stylus cleaning the grove ... |
