SET v. Pushpull
SET’s are max’ish 25wch most are in the 2-8wch range so not really practical for your KEF’s 85db sensitivity. SET one tube amplifying the whole sine wave. usually 2-8-25wpc SET Parallel same as above but two or more tubes in parallel so they both ...
Making a difficult decision
one thing to keep in mind the Nova is class D that's why its lighter, class D does not require the large transformers that the other classes A AB need. So don't judge by the weight alone. I've never see either so can't comment there.
ProAc Response 2.5 Vs. Spendor SP1
Overly bright could be the room or poor synergy for sure as proac's are not overly bright id say more the other way. Also if the CJ had tubes on the way out they could sound bright and lean. they should sound
Best bookshelf speakers
Elac's entry level stuff has been getting great reviews may want to look there. or an older set of Proac's would also be high on my list for your listening requirements. I also liked the entry level monitor audio bronze or silver speakers.
Audio Note AN/E vs. DeVore O/96
I've owned the AN E's and you should note they are not quite as efficient as they are quoted but still fairly good. I think 8wch may be ok if your not listening too loud you should be fine. I tried 8wch on them in my room with good results but ult...
High-end TT setup with phono stage built in
really the only way other then some boutique outfits like the above is in the lower end.you could: Integrated amp with it all built in. so the phono is in the amp not separate. you could do a custom table like a Garrard 301, Technics, Thorens with...
ProAc Response 2.5 Vs. Spendor SP1
I owned  the response 2.5's for about three years and I still dream of them years later. I drove them with all Cary gear at the time as well (SLP 94, SLM100 mono's 100wch) to very good sound. I really have not had that engaging of a musical experi...
What is wrong with Audiogon Forums?
good to see they are working on it.
Milky white deposit on cantilever/stylus of NOS Signet TK10ML, still in original box, etc.
My first inclination is corrosion. but I'm not sure how boron corrodes, I know aluminum will leave a white powdery substance behind for example. If its that old it will need to be rebuilt regardless as the suspension can-will decay over time. one ...
WHAT WAS THE BEST SYSTEM YOU EVER HEARD AND WHY WAS IT?
A friend of mine has a dedicated room with 6 Quad 57 panels in a custom 3 stack frame. 6 heavily mod'd quad mono amps  driven by an Nagra Pl preamp. he's got 4 tables ranging from Garrard 301 to 3 diff thorns. all the tables have two arms of vario...
Solder, Lead free or leaded?
all modern silver-tin solder is lead free. I think around the early 2000’s lead was banned from many products so before 2000 I’d say its up in the air. well in Canada anyway.
Please recommend between Audience and Siltech for my system
I’ve run siltech speaker cables for about 10 years now and am very happy with the sound quality. I have the first gen FT-12 ribbon 4 wire (each cable has 4 wires) cables They are very detailed and open sounding wire. If you have an overly bright s...
Three weeks with Omega SAM's
I don't listen to Orchestral music at all so that's not an issue. I do listen to Jazz, Blues, Classic Rock, Funk, world, and various other types. I've actually been rediscovering quality rock music again after some time away while I listened - lea...
Which cable wire i should prefer for my router?
Cat 6 cable from the router (this router could be the one from your internet provider) to your device if wired. if its going to be inside your walls make sure you use a local code compliant cat 6 cable.
CDs Vs LPs
CD's who buys CD's anymore? Hehe. That said I like both digital and analog I don't see the need to be in anyone camp as there is great music available on both. I have about 2k vinyl records in my collection not a huge collection but big enough, so...
