Your Opinion on Amps
It helps to know what speakers and preamp you are using. Each of those amps have a 'signature', which may work well with some equipment but not others.Unfortunately, too much of this comes down to 'synergy'.B
In need of some Amplifier advice. Is therereally any point in it with my current setup?
@OP.You will be on the road to enlightenment. And, don't let any dealer pressure you. You are on a quest to find a speaker that sings to you. Don't worry about related equipment until you find what you like. When you do find something, let us know. ...
Ideas for my next DAC....?
Let's see:Ayre CodexSchiit YggdrasilBoth are around $2k new, and will smoke just about anything out there. Both companies offer upgrades, so obsolescence is deferred.B

If you can drive to Dallas, TX. , there is a Vandersteen dealer. As 2psyop posted, try and audition as many speakers as you can. Once you find a 'sound' that sings to you, then you can start making decisions on the rest of the equipment.Yamaha, if ...
Car audio of the future ....
@elizabeth .There is nothing like good tunes on a good car stereo on the open road.B
How to Hook Up Vandersteen 2W Subwoofer
@drbbop. They come up regularly. Do you need RCA or Balanced?B
How to STOP PayPal from consistent breaking and breaching privacy.
@czarivey .Please, don't shout at the messenger. They are just the low level guys who are probably getting paid less than US minimum wage. That they can speak English, as well as their native language should be an indication of how much they want ...
Streaming
Tidal has one of the worst cataloging systems of all the streaming companies. You literally have to:1. Type the composer in the search box2. Add the type of music (symphony/concerto/etc.) after the name. You then get hits for albums most of the time...
Car audio of the future ....
The Bose system on my MKII TTS was very good, the Bang and Olufsen system in my MKIII TTS is terrible- a total waste of material and money. As pointed out in the article, when you get in an accident, it is going to involve a lot more work besides t...
Streaming
Get a subscription to Tidal or Spotify or Deezer (Quobuz says they will be in the US later this year).Using the app, connect from your phone or computer to the Gungy and the Gungy goes to your preamp. Eeezy peezy...B
Bluesound Powernode 2
I don't use a Powernode, just the Node's, but I would expect the quality to be than the NAD.Even the Dac in my Node is very good for the price. Also, Bluesound provides excellent customer service- Very fast response and problem solving. The call ce...
Streamer vs computer?
The Bluesound Node 2 (which is what I think you refer to) would probably not be as good as a computer/MQA certified DAC combo.I only use the BSound for multiroom streaming and output to a higher quality DAC.If I recall correctly, the Tidal MQA dec...
Tidal, Deezer
I tried Deezer, but songs would play up to a point and then return to the beginning. I contacted customer support and found it to be lacking.1 email per day, back and forth, telling me to uninstall/reinstall etc..It never worked properly so I drop...
Vandersteen 2CE Signature II: Is it worth the price of $2700? Why are so many for sale?
@cbucki ,That is the beauty of the Vandersteen subs. You use the M5-HP crossover or get the fixed value crossovers. These are connected to the speaker outputs of your amp and allow the subs to work seamlessly with your speakers and relieve the amp...
New to Digital
+1 willemj, I concur with everything you wrote. In my opinion, DAC's and streaming music are in an early stage. They will evolve quickly, so investing in the 'best' now will be an effort in futility. For me, buying a DAC that the manufacturer can pr...
