Crimping tool? @audio-union , That is a very impressive crimper. Thanks for posting this. Bob
Atma-Sphere Class D… Amazing I leave the Atma Class D's on and shut off everything else. Luckily, the Belles preamp turns on with the Mute switch engaged, so no thumps. Though I wonder if there is a way to mute a tube preamp when turning it on... Bob
Perception and Watts: Doubling of power @secretguy Good one!. B
Mid-fi tube vs high-end SS One manufacturer I can recommend is Ayre. I own both Atmasphere and Ayre, and both sound very close to one another.-With the Ayre being a bit 'tighter' especially in the bass. If you have been getting by with 55wpc, then an AX-7e would probably ...
Has anyone been able to define well or measure differences between vinyl and digital? In my limited experience, Redbook, despite having a higher range, unless well recorded, doesn't sound particularly 'lifelike' as , say, vinyl. However, newer recordings at higher resolution, definitely seems to come closer to vinyl. Just re-issui...
Are mcintosh rca and xlr cables any good. No experience with McIntosh, but I did own Transparent. IMHO, way overpriced, and uses a rather dubious Network box. As far as sound quality goes- Meh-especially when considering how much I spent. But, hey, if they sound good in your system, the...
Vandersteen VLR (non CT), my opinion Thomson rotary sub Are those the ones that use a fan like thing in a box? In any case, for such a simple box and driver, they perform amazingly well. B
Streichmelodion ?? Thanks @whart , I see he is on Qobuz. B
You ended up with Ayre, what are your speakers? @aubullience , Once you get the Vandy's with carbon Tweeters, I doubt you'll want to move on to anything else. B
LSA 20 Signature Loudspeaker I'd prefer a small tower with wood cabinets that fit in the room to a bookshelf on stands. I was thinking you wanted them close to the corners, hence, bookshelves that could be placed in either bookshelves or console. But, if you want a floors...
Is This the Essence of "The Audiophile Dilemma? @ps , I am glad you spoke with Johnny. He knows his stuff. I often recommend him, but few often follow up. And, though you can take or discard his recommendations, I think it is wise to solicit opinions of those who are more experienced. B
Streichmelodion ?? @bhvf , Hard to believe Mozart embraced the piano, as it was something completely 'new' when he was alive. But, great minds think beyond us mere mortals.🙂 B
For Vandersteen owners & lovers: Which other brands do you like? @aubullience , I hope you get the Vandy's. I doubt you'll be disappointed.-Though I have no experience with Vivid speakers, but if you have listened to Vandy's and liked them, then I am sure it will be an upgrade. Yes, the equalized bass is pret...
LSA 20 Signature Loudspeaker You should probably look at bookshelf speakers, as they are meant to be placed near corners. Bob
Streichmelodion ?? It is always amazing to find instruments that never made it. Equally amazing is that the piano is only 300 or so years old. B |
