Best digital format (non streaming) Once you start listening to higher res recordings- And, I might add, recordings that were recorded at high res-you will hear the difference over Redbook. My caveat refers to old recordings that have been resampled. B
Why are so many people spending so much money to build “perfect” streaming system? I started with Bluesound and as I could hear improvements, I just kept upgrading. I eventually stumbled across a Brinkmann Nyquist and the rest is history. Yes, as you increase your budget, the higher the resolution you will be able to hear. Just...
Dual, dedicated AC circuits??? Electricians?? Plenty of threads on this topic already. But, a PM to Jea48 would be my recommendation. He knows his stuff. bob
Innuos Pulsar - Some Interesting Info for Innuos Owners Let us know how the Pulsar performs. B
Innuos Pulsar - Some Interesting Info for Innuos Owners I had no idea Innuos made a Pulsar. Thanks for the Head Up! B
Why is everyone so down on MQA? MQA, in my opinion, wants to be what Dolby did in the 80's-become a 'bespoke' audio influencer that controls what is being recorded/played back. And, like Dolby, really doesn't make things sound better, but applies a band-aid to a wound best not t...
Innuos Zen Mk2 Upgrade @sworksone , +1. When it comes to digital and streaming, getting the latest iteration (or the previous one, if the price is too dear), is the way to go. Bob
Maintaining a "Balanced" System Design? @thr1961 , I can understand your dilemma. I was out of the audio loop for 30 years, until I had the funds to re-pursue my audiophile dream. If I were you, I would try to find other Joseph Audio owners. Perhaps JA has a forum? I own Vandersteen,...
Crimping tool? @audio-union , That is a very impressive crimper. Thanks for posting this. Bob
Atma-Sphere Class D… Amazing I leave the Atma Class D's on and shut off everything else. Luckily, the Belles preamp turns on with the Mute switch engaged, so no thumps. Though I wonder if there is a way to mute a tube preamp when turning it on... Bob
Perception and Watts: Doubling of power @secretguy Good one!. B
Mid-fi tube vs high-end SS One manufacturer I can recommend is Ayre. I own both Atmasphere and Ayre, and both sound very close to one another.-With the Ayre being a bit 'tighter' especially in the bass. If you have been getting by with 55wpc, then an AX-7e would probably ...
Has anyone been able to define well or measure differences between vinyl and digital? In my limited experience, Redbook, despite having a higher range, unless well recorded, doesn't sound particularly 'lifelike' as , say, vinyl. However, newer recordings at higher resolution, definitely seems to come closer to vinyl. Just re-issui...
Are mcintosh rca and xlr cables any good. No experience with McIntosh, but I did own Transparent. IMHO, way overpriced, and uses a rather dubious Network box. As far as sound quality goes- Meh-especially when considering how much I spent. But, hey, if they sound good in your system, the...
Vandersteen VLR (non CT), my opinion Thomson rotary sub Are those the ones that use a fan like thing in a box? In any case, for such a simple box and driver, they perform amazingly well. B |
