Isolation stands: snakeoil?
@john_g its about 8-9’ from speakers to listening seat. A near field configuration but the walls are all designed and built to minimize issues so it’s as if the front wall really disappears
SME V Tonearm on eBay Hong Kong Sellers are FAKE!!!
Other than the rough finish (although hard to tell in the crummy photos, btw out of focus photography is almost always a give away) the big tell is the lack of serif on the “V”compare withhttps://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.e...
Isolation stands: snakeoil?
@jbrrp1 I'd missed your post, sorrybtw have you tried changing the power cable on your Herzan? Shouldn't make a difference but it does! I've only gone up to a $300 or so cable, I can't find it in myself to go further (although maybe I'll try if I ...
Isolation stands: snakeoil?
@lalitk hate to break it to you but digital equipment is just as susceptible to vibration.Just this morning I tried swapping a set of <.5mm constrained layer damping sheets below the base under my master clock (this is a 10Mhz clock that drives...
why do people feel the need to buy expensive cable
Here is an active link to the final ruling. The BBB comparison is not quite fair as the ASA is a statutory body (ie a government agency), more like the FDA ruling on a drug claim https://www.asa.org.uk/rulings/russ-andrews-accessories-ltd-a13-2286...

Torus RM20 Idle Power Consumption
As the RM20 is just a transformer and filter it will consume next to no power itself on idle (all its running is the light in the power switch). You Ayre amps will have a stand by power draw, but not knowing which model you have I can’t look it up...
What's your investment threshold?
Cables are only part of the puzzle: room treatments, racks, footers, fuses, contact enhancers -- the list goes on. For my system, cables are 22% of the cost of the entire system and other "tweaks" a further 29% i.e. over half of the cost of the sy...
Townshend Maximum Super Tweeters Ribbons, Amazing Results Definite Keepers
Somehow the super tweeters seem to improve the PRAT (pace, rhythm, and timing...not sure how this is possible) and add to the realism of the sound and add slightly more air.Deployed correctly this is exactly what you should hear. If you can hear m...
Cartridge alignment question/problem
What you are hearing is known as "print through" or "pre-echo" and is endemic to analog recording. Some of it is in the original tape (hence the name print through) often heard as a full echo of all frequencies, and other sources can be from the w...
Stylus inspection with USB microscope
Have you removed the lens guard? This is the plastic ring around the lens. With it in place it is unlikely you can get the lens close enough to the stylus to focus. Maximum focal length for the cheaper USB is often very small at higher magnificati...
