AC Power cable for ARC Ref 5 se.
To @lostbears list I would also add AudioQuest -- my primary ARC dealer (Optimal Enhancement) always gets great results combining ARC amps with the latest AQ cables and I'd imagine the Storm series would be a great match -- I currently use AQ WEL ...
Fake XLO cables from China
As a rule a price <25% of list is a big red flag -- authentic cables bottom out at 25-30% -- this one at 17% is well into "too good to be true" territory
Please help with super basic questions about Mp3 players
If you are already hooked on Spotify this is cheap, and of course the songs are free as well ...https://bemighty.com/products/mighty
Lyra Delos Stylus Crud on top of cantilever
Phew, that’s quite some build up of dirt. Assuming the normal solutions (soft bristled brush, brushing in the direction of LP rotation ie back to front) do no good then perhaps very careful use of a bit of magic eraser attached to a toothpick may ...
Michell Engineering TT users; Orbe or Gyro why Excellent over all of the rest?
I owned an Orbe for about fifteen years. Besides being a great sounding (dynamic, spritely) table it’s also very easy to set up and to fine tune or tweak once you get the hang of it. Mine travelled from the UK to Boston and then cross country to L...
Cryongenically treated in-wall AC power wire
$20/foot is really steep -- one of the best in wall cables is JPS and that's $30/foot but this stuff really adds up with the long lengths most residential AC systems require. I used JPS in a prior installation but it's a bear to work with being 10...
Audioquest custom made triple weave design power cable (Storm Series).
By the way Garth Powell is on record (see below) that the braided design is not for sound quality, but only to make the cable flexiblehttps://positive-feedback.com/reviews/hardware-reviews/audioquest-storm-series-and-niagara-ac-power-...this is re...
Most musical valved cd player found used for under $1,000
I owned and used to love my Lector CDP-7 TL but seems these are some $2k or so used ... still keep your eye out for one
CD/SACD player output options
Some manufacturers (like DCS) support DSD over AES/EBU but it’s a proprietary setup that will only work with other DCS gear. It sounds great btw, especially when you use dual AES connections and use Transparent Ref XL cable ...
Romex and breaker switches
I can certainly endorse the Torus wall mounted transformers like the WM75BAL I have, but they’re not exactly cheaphttp://www.toruspower.com/na-wall-mount/
Help! Tweaking My Lovan Rack for new Big A**ed Transrotor Turntable!
@prof sounds to me as if the VTA changed between old set up and new, likely it's a little higher than it was before. Alternatively the bump could have affected the suspension such that for the same tonearm alignment the VTA is different -- suspens...
Synergistic Research XOT Carbon Crossover Transducers
I have them on my Q3s. I had the older model before that. The effect is fairly subtle. More a sort of clearing up of the sound of the speaker and a reduction in perceived hash and noise. Make sure you have room for them, ideally in a combo speaker...
Romex and breaker switches
Synergistic Research will sell you a spool of their treated 10 gauge Romex at very reasonable cost -- the put it through their quantum tunneling process. I got mine via Scott Walker
why do people feel the need to buy expensive cable
I found the following interview interesting -- clearly Chris has put a lot of time and thought into his designs and his commitment to bringing cables at very accessible prices is admirable (I still fondly remember my Illumanti D60 back in the day)...
Help! Tweaking My Lovan Rack for new Big A**ed Transrotor Turntable!
Is it one of the AS tonearms with the one point headshell connection? Like the WTB313? https://goo.gl/images/NUGojxIf so it could simply be that the connection point was loose and the headshell twisted. On most tonearms you couldn’t change the ori...
