I have seen a lot of ideas concerning Cable lifters
Although I have heavily shielded cables (GroverHuffman.com), they are sitting on 5/8" 90 oz plush nylon pile rug which claims to be anti-static. I use rubber pucks as lifters (like the audio technica ones from the 80s) under the 16’ runs of speake...
Bookshelf vs diffuser panel. Who wins?
@ditusa However, take everything Acoustic Fields says as an attempt to separate you from your money.  I spent $150,000+ on constructing a listening room with the contractor who worked with him on other projects.  He never supplied the plans, they ...
Bookshelf vs diffuser panel. Who wins?
@dekay  We have two libraries of books in my home (75% my collection/25% my late former wife's).   We took a 12' wall in a spare bedroom and installed book shelving 8' high to store about 1500 books (she was an historian so 30% of those books a...

I completely agree. Mastering must be the same if the same results from streamers and CDs are to be similar or even the same. Perhaps a streamer can reproduce sound/music equivalent to a CD playback. I am unfamiliar with streamers capabilities gen...

"Audiophiles are Snobs"  features an idiot!  He states, with no equivocation,  that $5,000 and $10,000 speakers sound equally good and a $500 and $5,000 integrated amp sound equally good.  He is either deaf or a liar or both!   There is a site fil...
Looking for Speaker Recommendations
@bgross -Thought the KEF Reference One to be such a massive departure from LS50 Metas.  Could you explain how they are different sounding and pleasing or not?    @lucky_doggg7 Yes, They are $18,000 asking price for a formerly $27,000 speaker from...

Ha, ha.  I have tried four low end Marantz CD players (as transports) in my high end system.   As CD players, they were warm and slow, lacking in resolution and openness.  For $600-$1000, they were okay but old Denon 1500 and Kyocera 310 kills the...

And the old Legacy speakers such as the Signature IIIs are made for any type of music and easy to drive with smaller amps, even a 17 watt Sherwood receiver from the 1970s (how I auditioned them).   Used on high end gear, they are on par with $10K ...

@audioman58  Too much work to get streaming to sound as good as my CD playback.  Also, unless one downloads the music, one is at the mercy of TIdal or Qobuz from deleting music one may want to hear.  Next, only about 15% of streamed files are tr...
A rookie with 10K, seeking advise
Someone mentioned an Ortofon Black cartridge.  The MM cheapest version is great on about 15-20% of records and yuk, off sounding on the rest of one's collection (My friend had one for six months and could not take the majority of his discs soundin...

@gwilmot  I'm still using the two pairs of speakers I recommend.  Also the L version of the cartridge and a Kyocera CD player for the second system.   So you are wrong in a blanket assertion.

Replace the Lintons with either Legacy Signature III or Focus.  Both are high efficiency speakers that only need 35 watts (but good current) amplification.  They cost between $1500-2200 (Sigs) to $2500-3000 (Focus) used.  Big sound, big dynamic ra...
How many plays can you get out of a good record?
End of life for an LP? Maybe those I owned as a child. At 12, I started seriously taking care of my records. Even those I’ve played 100-200 times since 12.
Please share photos of your Vinyl cabinet/shelving
I've sold 18,000 records in the past 30 years.  I have a rule, if I don't potentially want to hear a record 3 times a year, out it goes.   I only have so much storage space (or desire to accumulate/hear more 78s and LPs.  I still buy many CDs, big...
Time to upgrade the pre-amp.
I have a Zesto Allesso SUT.  I was using it with a Benz Ruby 3 until it wore out.  Now, I am very happy with a Dynavector 20X2 L dialed in perfectly with the SUT.   Zesto has an interesting presence feature.  I would note that their BIA 200 amp is...
