DIY phono interconnect -- need some advice If you can find silver wire and silver RCA's, that would be the best because of the lowest resistance. What you found sounds good, but haven't actually looked at the link. Enjoy!
Cut lower frequency to help my bookshelf speakers OP is you, original poster. Somehow reduce the bass below 80Hz. or a little higher to your Dyna's using some type of high pass filter. You're trying to reduce how much your 8" woofers need to move.
DIY phono interconnect -- need some advice The resistance is higher than silver or gold. Nickel is okay for a low cost connector, it is corrosion resistant.
Raven Blackhawk LE... am I going to be disappointed? I didn't look at the Raven stuff yet, but I'm guessing from MC's comment that it is only a passive high pass filter? I have been disappointed in tube amps in the past, so limiting the low frequency power hungry portion of the spectrum is intriguin...
I get it now I'm glad you are happy with your upgrade. Days like this are what makes audio so addicting. The "buzz" last longer than alcohol with only a minor $ hangover👍
BUI - Guilty I do not regret buying under the influence. Those speakers will be with me until the estate sale.
Bi amp and bias issue +1 for electronic crossover. This is an absolute necessity when you bi-amp. Also tube amps don't like low impedances, I would run in triode mode. I bet the mid and tweeter impedance is dropping below 4 ohms.
Raven Blackhawk LE... am I going to be disappointed? Compared to your other amps, yes you WILL be disappointed by the Raven. Have not actually heard a Raven, but 20 or even 30 watts is not going to cut it with 88dB speakers. I disagree with MC's comment about 20 tube watts is comparable 50-100 SS wa...

Cut lower frequency to help my bookshelf speakers Well based on the SVS1000's, I would say the OP is not really into high end, although the Dynaudio's are pretty good. If you don't want to spend a lot of $$, try the route of reducing the low frequencies to the Dyna's with some type of high pass f...
Sansui SP-2500 - Keep Original, or Modify? After understanding your situation, I will change my no vote to a yes. Before I got into Altec, JBL and ESS, a friends Dad had some Sansui 2500's and I thought they sounded good compared to what I was use too. Those lattice grills will help protec...

can any stereo receiver be turned to mono? Older vintage receivers had stereo/mono switches, this one does not. A stereo/mono switch does exactly the same thing as the Y-connectors others suggested. Still the amps cannot be bridged in that receiver.
can any stereo receiver be turned to mono? Simple answer is NO. That receivers amplifiers cannot be bridged for mono use. Do not follow MC's advice. What others are saying will yield 2 mono channels from either 2 different speakers or 1 speaker if that's all you connect.
Sansui SP-2500 - Keep Original, or Modify? Buy something else, they were decent back in the day. Too many drivers over the same frequency range = unclear/fractured sound. If you want 3-way, go with 3 drivers. |
