What happened here?
jea48 - Plausible. Looks like an inferior connector, maybe defective from the start. My suggestion, don't use Rhodium ever for hi-fi. Silver all the way is so much better.
XLR (Balanced) interconnect cable question
Kimber are very good cables and not that expensive.
How to fix my preamp dilemma
+1 to repair the Parasound, if it's not way out of line. I REALLY doubt it's the power transformer. Most likely some bad capacitors, relatively cheap.

My experience with bi-wiring
The weakness for bi-wire is not the wire, it's the passive crossovers. Get rid of those components and go with only wire between the voice coils and amplifier outputs. Jason +1 for elimination of clipping. I tri-amp, also total elimination of inte...

spiritofradio - The SAE 5000A is in a tape monitor on preamp, one switch. SAE also has a bypass switch on the front. I use the tape monitor so I don't think/can't tell if it effects sound. When the SAE is switched in, even when adjusted to "just" ...
Quality of Cables When Bi-Amping
If you are going to do bi-amp correctly, you need good quality cables (all). I can't speak for Golden Reference, but the lower the resistance the better. I think I've mentioned that I'm a silver over copper guy. NO 18 gauge please.

antigrunge - The copper replacement for the fuse has one MAJOR flaw, you still have the contact resistance of the fuse holder...

Cotton, too much lint in my opinion.BTW my only piece of equipment that has a "standby", does put out a little heat when in standby. Nothing compared to an amp running at very low volumes though. I believe the heat rise from unplugged compared to ...

I'm happy for you!
Whats on your turntable tonight?
@reubentPuzzle - Yes it's vinyl, but first song on side 2 has a scratch from too many beers one night. I use my SAE 5000A for that song...
SAE or Luxman
gmosley - I didn't know SAE made a CD player, thanks for the correction. I've been an SAE fan since about 78'.

het part 2
Can you feel any heat on the top of the metal cases for either units when they are in "standby"? If you can't, I would say the recommendation of silk would be much more desirable than plastic vinyl. There will be a very slight amount of heat that ...
