KLH model 9 electrostatic Speakers I love KLH 9's. I did notice an improvement upgrading the power cords to twisted silver over copper conductors with braided shield for the ground connections. Replace ALL rectifiers and capacitors. Rectifiers should be high speed silicon variety. ...
My experience with bi-wiring For me, bi-wire provided very little improvement in sound. Bi-amp with active crossover made a BIG difference. I advocate spending the money for another amplifier and an active crossover. You can get that setup for the same as an expensive set of ...
Hi End Audio Technician in Las Vegas I know a guy, let me check with him. He doesn't like to deal with in wall speakers, but wiring should be no problem. Hi end company? They should be able to handle it without a problem, BestBuy NO. Any idea of time frame?
het part 2 I'd say yes, I agree with oldhvymec. I don't cover my stuff except for turntable, but I have HEPA air purifiers that I run continuously, except when listening. I haven't tried silk, but sounds good because it's virtually lint free and not abrasive.
XLR (Balanced) interconnect cable question I don't know about Wireworld, but would suspect they are shielded. I prefer silver platted copper wire with silver connectors because of the lowest resistance and silver oxide is a great conductor.
Who Uses Rear Surround Speakers For Music Playback? For me it's a NO. But whatever sounds good to you.Fuzztone - Be more polite and no racist comments.
Deja Vu all over again In my opinion, "remastered" means the original master was stepped on again! If it was an original digital master, well that's a different story. There are so many variations between vinyl stampings. Example, my original Chrysalis copy of Blondie -...

Help! Cure for transformer hum? I just looked at the inside of the NAD 7600 in US Audio Mart. It looks like the power transformer has strange metal strap/bracket of the top holding the transformer. Maybe when the tech replaced it, he didn't fasten it back down correctly. Still I...
Arrangement of components on rack If you have the real estate NOT to stack that's your best option. Remember heat rises and is a major contributor to failure. Hottest on top. I have 50lb amps on top of my CD player. Turntable is by itself on a heavy base.
Help! Cure for transformer hum? Just an FYI - If you service an amp with any issue, of that age, it is ALWAYS good to replace the electrolytic capacitors. This is a normal procedure for any good tech. I would take it back and have them do it correctly. Maybe you should get your ...
Help! Cure for transformer hum? The other thing I should have mentioned first, is to check the power supply caps assuming they haven't been replaced. If they are dry or leaking, that could put additional load on the transformer.

SS Budget "Tone" Integrated Amplifiers Have you looked at any Simaudio? Don't know what they offer nowadays.
Help! Cure for transformer hum? I doubt that what you are referring to is related to a ground or AC line problem. When transformers get old the shellack or similar material they use to "pot" the coil windings get brittle and breakdown. This could also be from hot/cold thermal c... |
