ModWright Phono
Thanks for the advice. The component has broken in for over 250 hours. I won't give up on it until I hear something better in my system. I'd like to hear it in comparison with the Io and Steelhead.

What I really like about this phonostage is the way the music propels forward from the images and out into the room. I've heard this particular trait referred to as 'action.' It also has great drive and energy. What I want ideally, however, is a ph...

I have had the SWP 9.0SE Phono Stage in my system for about a month and I am very pleased with what I'm hearing.
Airtangent arm; what table under 10k?
I've read great things about the Black Diamond. Those critical of the sound probably like the sound of a wooden arm like the Schroeder. Since I haven't heard either, I can't comment.
Airtangent arm; what table under 10k?
Siddh,Interesting. The Walker is my 'ideal' table but I just can't afford one.I'm suprised that the Clearaudio Reference outperformed the TNT/Airtangent. What arm did you use with that table? The reason I ask is because my purchase of an Airtangent...
Airtangent arm; what table under 10k?
Siddh,What are you using now?
Airtangent arm; what table under 10k?
Sirspeedy,Would that be the TNT 6 or the TNT-HRX?In Roy Gregory's review of the TNT-HRX he notes that you have to order the table with a "special platter" in order to use it with the Airtangent.TNT-HRX Review
Reference DACS: An overall perspective
I didn't think I would have anything else to contribute to this thread. That was until I read that last post.Though I've always lived in Canada I've been a die-hard Bears fan since 1977. Why? Number 34!GO BEARS!
Great bass from a linear tracking arm?
The ZYX UNIverse without the silver base (SB) is 5.0 grams. The compliance horizontal is 15 x 10-6 cm/dyne and the compliance vertical is 12 x 10-6 cm/dyne.I'm not surprised that Kuzma is using the ZYX with his linear tracker. I 'did the math' (acc...
Great bass from a linear tracking arm?
The Brinkmann EMT Titanium phono cartridge is 11 grams.Maybe the one you were using was quite different than this? The ZYX Airy 2 and Airy 3 are each 5.0 grams. I believe the Universe is either 5.0 or 5.5 grams.
Great bass from a linear tracking arm?
Thomasheisig,I would imagine that the Kuzma/Universe combo is so good that it would be hard to go back to the Phantom or DaVinci?
Great bass from a linear tracking arm?
A person I know who currently owns a number of Airtangent arms (though not the current '2002' model) says that the key to great bass is not higher pressure but a light cartridge.
Great bass from a linear tracking arm?
As expected there has been a lot of discussion of linear trackers that use air bearings. What about the offerings from Clearaudio that use gravity, wheels, and tracks? I've read about some of the operational problems that one can encounter with the...
Great bass from a linear tracking arm?
Kuzma's air bearing is specifically designed to work under high pressure but the Air Tangent's isn't. I wonder how well the AT would physically hold up under high pressure over the long haul?
Great bass from a linear tracking arm?
For $11,500 the Air Tangent should come with a compressor that doesn't have pressure issues. One shouldn't have to 'tweak' an arm that costs this much.In this respect the Kuzma Air Line seems to be a better design and to represent a better value.s...
