Class D is just Dandy! So George would like you to believe all Class D amps have issues, but this one future amp finally fixes "The class D problem." and reviews say so.Hahahah.BTW, technically this may actually be a Digital Class D amp, given the A/D conversion and pr...
More curious than a real question- remote trigger? Anyone use it? It's particularly useful for high power, multi-channel. Nice to be able to turn off the surround/center amps when only listening to 2 channel. Some power conditioners will also do this for you in case your amps do not. Best,E
Fastest way to correct hifi system? 1 - Trust no one's ears but your own. 2 - Be honest about how you listen to music most of the time. Throne? Puttering around the house? Concert level? 3 - Try to give systems a long term listening experience, as many things sound cool and interest...
Amps from the 1980's -- What gear holds up sonically? Reliably? Hey Runnin,I definitely don't mean to say that everything from the 1980's was worth memorializing in a museum, but I was not really thinking of overseas mass-market products. Best,E
Duelund cast Pio Hybrid Copper/Silver or Rs series with Silver Bypass PIO In general, copper has never let me down. I've not gained anything by adding silver/gold to a mix when it comes to capacitors or wires.YMMV. Best,E
I heard the $4000 Focal Utopia Headphones yesterday Parts Connexion is having a significant sale on Stax headphones.Pure Be is diff. than alloys. Pure Be is brittle as hell. Break it and the dust is toxic if inhaled.
Class D is just Dandy! That discussion belongs in another thread, George, but practically everything you complain about on a weekly basis. HahahahaThis thread is for talking about Class D amps we actually like. Best,E
Class D is just Dandy! BTW, I have no particular opinion on ML amps, but the generalized claims Fremer made in the article were just not true anymore for Class D amps. Whether any reader here likes a particular amp or not, well, OK, I can't argue with that. But the gene...
Class D is just Dandy! One biased reporter backing another doesn't convince me of a thing. Sorry. Everyone should use their own ears and definitely not Fremer's or JA when evaluating modern class D amps. Best,E
Yamaha AMP M70 another opinion request I really liked the pro amps from Yamaha from this era. Sadly the home versions (M series) really lacked guts to my ears. Best,E
Stereo In The Elements One major issue is going to be condensation. Cold is OK, but not cold and damp.Best,E
Class D is just Dandy! Fremer's 2013 review was riddled with bias. He's no neutral observer. What should you buy? Class A? Class D? I dunno. But don't come and tell me the best of each aren't very very good. Best,E
Class D is just Dandy! @kuribo Hey there!I'm thinking of spending for a pair of Hypex monoblocks soon. Could you please tell me your thoughts on the sound, and especially if you have compared them to ICEPower? Thank you,E
Class D is just Dandy! Hi @chrisr Class D is not Digital, but for the next type in sequence, after A, B, C. They are switching amps, but everything is controlled in the analog domain. Designers like Bruno Putzeys bristle at the term "digital" amplifiers. There is no A/D...
Standing waves Well, on the one hand, standing waves cause the largest measurable deviation from an ideal response in sound quality. On the other hand, problems get worse as you go down in frequency so as a result smaller speakers, with higher cut-offs tend to s... |
