Right Channel Cuts Out intermittently - help! Parasound makes great gear, but it sounds like you have a bad one. I'd have it checked out. Best,E
A Budget Amp Comparison Hi Snapsc,Nice write up. Few notes. The Halo A23 is Class a for about the first 30 Watts, not 2. Well within the power envelope of most listening. I had 2 of them. Measuring the power input, I think Parasound at some point decided to raise the bia...
Is there a need for cinema. Speaker from theaters Yes, there is. Depending on what you have, you might want to sell to a dedicated theater installer. They are out there. JBL professional drivers are pretty expensive, and so even on the used market they command a pretty good premium. My point is, ...
Converting FLAC Files Wait, they should play fine. The issue is your Mac software. What are you using to play music? If you know anything about shell scripting you should be able to "whip up" a script to use ffmpeg which is a free converter from Unix/Linux land. Best,E
most advanced speaker in a rectangular wooden box? The top of the line Monitor Audio.
Any Way To Damp Ringing Stands Without Adding Weight??? Buck shot works. :) Best,E
did Avid use the same tweeters for both the 102 and 103 models Take your question over to DIYaudio.com - in the Multi-way forum someone will know. :)
Monitor Audio Platnium II ricred,That's how I like them. For me, great speakers can play anything really well. Other speakers I think are AS smooth, but cool is Magico. Older MA silvers I have owned were quite musical, but punchier. Definitely jazz/rock speakers.
Digital Audio for Dummies I strongly recommend Tidal. It streams uncompressed, and has an enormous catalog. Everytime I hear an album on a Jazz or Classical station or Pop I can find it on Tidal. Even obscure things like the complete speeches of Martin Luther King Jr. are ...
I have question about frequency response and power issues Hi James,So, as loud as you wish to play the speakers, the amplifier overheats? I've looked at the Stereophile review, which is sadly incomplete compared to modern Stereophile measurements, and the Ampzilla specs. I think it's around 220W/8 Ohms a...
Monitor Audio Platnium II Big, They don't fit the "High end" mold. They are far too smooth and neutral, and perhaps at first listen a little dark. Compare to B&W 801s or Golden Ear speakers to hear what I'm talking about. I'm not criticizing, I'm just saying, these ar...
Advice Needed On Recapping Power Amp Hi OP,I think you are a little early for a recap, and by the time your amp was made capacitor quality (i.e. low inductance and ESR) had taken a major leap forward already. Also, there are no output caps on most SS amps. I would strongly suggest y...
Integrating a DAC into an Analog System To keep things simple, keep your Duet and feed it's output to a DAC. I did that for a while until I got a dedicated media PC (running Xubuntu). Feeding my Mytek Brooklyn, it worked superbly. I've now moved it to my bedroom feeding an NAD 3020 D vi...
Missing the Old Days I think after thinking about this, that the M2!5 has what might be called a "discerning" speaker. Meaning, it’s more likely to show differences in an amplifier’s current capability than less challenging speakers. Still, for the output I think that...
Long RCA interconnects You'll want to make a very short run to your phono preamp, and make the long run from that to your integrated. As @folkfreak says, balanced is best. |
