Class D options So, you are looking to have something on hand, which you may never listen to? Make your own. https://www.hypexshop.com/
Finding source of sibilance It is not clear to me that you know the issue is from the turntable. Do you have another source which does not exhibit this?Erik
Home Theater Processor I have to say, I really like the NAD modular system a great deal.
Recommend some Jazz to me Trombone Shorty
Do i belong here Cobbone1 - Something modern. Schiit or Mytek work really well with Squeezebox. :) Older DAC's usually need a little help like a Wyred4Sound reclocker to sound their best. I have used a SB touch from 44/16 to 96/24 with great results. Best,E
Effect Ohms Have on db and Speaker Sensitivity I'm not sure if this is why you could be confused, but some driver manufacturers do offer 2 versions of the same woofer: an 8 and 4 Ohm.The 4 Ohm allows twice the current to flow in the coil, which means 2x the power for the same V will be dissipa...
Firewire immune to jitter? I had the ARC DAC 8 - I would not judge most modern DAC's based on them at all. Up to and including the DAC 8 they did not have "great" clocks, but only good clocks. There are a number of DAC's which outclass them by far in the USB realm. Also, th...
Effect Ohms Have on db and Speaker Sensitivity First, be aware no spec gets fudged more than sensitivity! :) Most speakers are rated 3-5 dB higher than they actually are. dB at 1W / 1m is "efficiency" and varies by load impedance, which as stated above, is 2.83V at 8 Ohms. Think of it as "powe...
Popping when kids are jumping Disconnect everything but your amplifier. Dance around and see if you still get the popping. That reduces your issue to power or amp.
Popping when kids are jumping How old is your home? This could be a home wiring issue.
Replace my DAC or not? mbiondo - I was also a fan of a vintage Theta Casanova, which for a while held it's own. Something changed over the past 5 years, specifically with the perfomance of RedBook sources. That is where I think the real delta between vintage and modern ...
Nuforce STA200 @mrdecibel Then I stand corrected. :) Erik
Nuforce STA200 NuForce uses a hybrid approach, very similar to Carver's idea, and << cough >> borrowed by Yamaha in the EEEngine design. Not sure if Yamaha ever licensed it or waited for patents to expire. The voltage + and - rails are Class D, and t...
Terminals spade type loosening the binding posts +1 for locking banana plugs. Furutech plugs suck, stick with WBT and others. Also, avoid Rhodium, it is just too hard. Best,E
Terminals spade type loosening the binding posts I know this problem. The issue is actually that the nuts on the speaker AND/or the spades are too hard. If they were soft, they would deform just a touch and grip. What you want to use are spring-loaded WBT terminals like these:http://partsconnexi... |
