JL Audio e112 or HSU ULS MK2 Another issue with JL honestly is reliability. There are way too many people on Audiogon asking about service. My Hsu has never had a problem. Best,E
ATTN Brooklyn DAC owners I need help with remote Just read the instructions. RC5 is NOT for the Apple remote. :) You want to use the NEC option for the mini-Apple remote.
Norah Jones - Tidal vs. Hi Res ? I am afraid this is getting derailed. I really did not want to talk about MQA per se, just this particular recording. Not really interested in doing any sort of A/B comparisons for you either.I just noticed that the redbook Not Too Late on Tidal d...
JL Audio e112 or HSU ULS MK2 In my humble opinion, the sound quality of a good Hsu is equal or better than a JL Audio.Where JL Audio shines is in their automated room correction, which that particular unit does not have. Best,Erik
JL Audio e112 or HSU ULS MK2 Given these two, I would absolutely save the money and get the Hsu. You'll need room correction to properly integrate either one. Best,E
Comparing Ribbon Tweeters - Golden Ear vs. Ascend Sierra Do not underestimate the waveguide on the revels. You get very good and controlled off axis response. Would I trade my current AMT speakers for a Revel? Never. :) Best,E

Comparing Ribbon Tweeters - Golden Ear vs. Ascend Sierra The dispersion of any radiating surface is related to the frequency and dimensions of the radiator. AMT’s are typically wider than ribbons, but they come in a variety of lengths. Some shorter than ribbons, some longer. Also, I don’t think limited ...
Comparing Ribbon Tweeters - Golden Ear vs. Ascend Sierra I love good AMT’s, but the range of quality in the tweeters and their implementation varies a great deal. The Golden Ear loudspeaker I heard with AMT tweeters was among the very worst I’ve ever heard. In terms of tweeter brands, I consider Raal (t...
Norah Jones - Tidal vs. Hi Res ? I should check to see if there is a date on the Tidal site. I do not thing I could hear 1 or 2 dB of difference in the dynamic range, but the mastering differences make sense.
Ideas for my next DAC....? I only heard one Oppo DAC and I do not exaggerate when I say it was the worst DAC I have ever heard. That was a few years ago though, my point is that the Oppo brand is absolutely not one I would buy without listening to first. I'm quite happy wit...
“MQA is a philosophy”..John Stuart CJ -I'll just leave you and your writing style alone. I'm afraid I can't follow your "everything and the kitchen sink" approach to constructing an argument.Best,E
MQA and the "Pre Ring - Post Ring" Hoax I'm afraid that while I see where you are going, there's a lot of yelling that obfuscates and in some ways goes counter to your argument. If I read it as written, it seems you are saying that caps and coils introduce errors and we need to be OK wi...
“MQA is a philosophy”..John Stuart Just one small quibble ... The MQA decoders rely on apodizing filters (no pre-ripple, lots after) which Meridian has championed, but they are available without MQA. You can probably find lots at Stereophile written about them. My DAC let's me choo...
“MQA is a philosophy”..John Stuart Forgot to mention something. IMHO, MQA is about 2 decades too late. With high bandwidth internet and terabyte thumb drives, and DACs that in the last 5 years play Redbook MUCH better than they used to, the pure need for MQA has really diminished a... |
