Best Speakers for Very Large Bright Room Your choices are (always):1 - Control dispersion 2 - Control room acousticsIf you are unwilling to do anything in 2, consider an ESL or horn loaded speaker. The center issue is a little about your head though. Your head tends to cancel frequencies...
soundstage location~speaker plane; speaker design or placement? Look up "Head related transfer function" or HRTF for a more complete explanation.Partly this is timber. An upper midrange emphasis may make the soundstage appear closer to you. I use a very relaxed, sloping off curve that sometimes make it seem as...
Extremely hyped omni directionals introduced Munich 2018 I would never allow such a privacy invading product in my house. I barely tolerate a Nest thermostat.
Extremely hyped omni directionals introduced Munich 2018 In terms of using plumbing for speakers, I think the venerable Seigfreid Linkwitz has everyone beat with his LX mini:http://www.linkwitzlab.com/Store/LXmini.htm
Which material sounds better for speakers construction? Wood, Ply or MDF? @ebm What great speakers do you have?Good luck in this great hobby.I design my own. Here is what I’m listening to now. The tweeter is the same as used in some Gryphon designs, the mid-woofer I’ve seen in Wilson and other speakers:https://speakerma...
Extremely hyped omni directionals introduced Munich 2018 I'm really not sure what is going on with the mid-woofers. It looks like they actually are direct-radiating, and the tube is acting as a sealed cabinet, no? I can't find anything about the cost. Anyone else have luck? Best,E
Replacing my Krell FPB 600 amp with a tube amp So here is my bad take, overall. The Krell's that I remember in the day of the B&W Nautilus were cold and analytical as hell. Having heard the top of the line, 5 amplifier setup with Krell crossover and B&W Nautilus speakers I was never wo...
Which material sounds better for speakers construction? Wood, Ply or MDF? @ebm The A1 is a much much better value and realistic speaker to live with than the S1 Mk II , so I'm not surprised. Important to note, that it's easy to make fewer speakers than you think you will sell, so you can later announce you are sold out!...
In search of info from the technical guys Lots of different class D and OEM's, and always someone around who tries making a new one.Pascal, Hypex and ICEPower are among the most common, but Crown, Yamaha and NuForce make their own. Texas Instruments makes a variety of IC's to fascilitate ...
Extremely hyped omni directionals introduced Munich 2018 I'm really not sure at all how these work, and as for omni's, MBL and Ohm Walsh have some die hard fans still. :) Best,E
JAM by Duelund Sorry to hear that Alex! I know nothing about those wires though, so that's why I personally would not have answered. :) Best,Erik

Romex power cable as speaker cables? I know of at least 1 mega-bucks speaker company that uses solid core, electrical wire for their internal wiring. Saves on materials, but adds significantly to the time needed for assembly.
JAM by Duelund @alexberger That's a little unfair! You've been pretty much only asking @grannyring for advice on this thread. :) Thanks for your feedback and experience too. When I have money again I'm definitely going to try the Jupiter caps in my speakers:http...
Hafler DH 500 Check the heat sinks on both sides. If you have something shorting, it will overheat and cause the thermal sensors to shut it off. |
