Should I recap my speakers? If so who can do it?
what do you mean remove the parts and ship that?
Oppo 103 and stand alone DAC
You can look for a Vanity HD card for the Oppo. The right options will output DSD over SPDIF. You will loose the multi-channel analog outs though.Erik

Class D Ncore Atsah in the house
Ncore, like ICE has some interesting features. You can use your own front-end, and in that way you can use whatever kind of technology you want which can affect the sound quality. I believe for instance, JR was using a transformer coupled inputs. ...
Velodyne HGS12-repair or replace?
Room correction / EQ are my first priorities when it comes to subs. That is by far the biggest contributor/detractor to sound quality, so I would pay attention to that when shopping around. I love my Hsu sub, immense, powerful, but I do my own EQ ...
Who said “ flat freq response “ is the best?
@ieales : The market has just not responded that well to it. While Vandersteen and Thiel have ardent followers they also have not dominated the high end speaker market. Neither have single driver designs. Best,E
adding center speaker to existing stereo system
aux - You are not wrong ----but what a mess we get into. That's why I suggested a sound bar instead. Simple, and good enough for a listener who wants to watch movies occasionally.
Pass Labs vs Mark Levinson vs Parasound - best 2 channel amp used under $2,500?
To everyone who has disagreed with me:That's totally cool, but I really do suggest a buyer listen first. :) Best,E

@kalali  06-24-2018 12:41pmThis discussion begs this question: would two different speakers with identical frequency response curves sound the same in your room? I'm betting the answer is no. There are so many other variables. Impulse response, ...

Going back to something @elizabeth pointed out:The quality of treble is often a function of room acoustics. Try throwing pillows and blankets on the floor between and behind the speakers as an experiment. You may be awesomely surprised at how much...
adding center speaker to existing stereo system
hi @tls49 My experience is that I used to work in making audio equipment for motion picture auditoriums, until Dolby Digital came out, and make my own loudspeakers, on top of being a hobbyist for decades. I think that while having identical L, R a...
Can someone explain to me why : Accupahse Equipment is that expensive ?
I'm not a fan of Rolex per se, but you cannot argue with their resale value over time. I don't know of any watch brand that keeps it as well. If I were to own one, I'd like one from the '60s though. :) Best,E

So much to chime in on:Loudness curves - Yes, this makes it important to listen to a speaker at your normal listening volumes, or get one that is flat and use a loudness compensation like Yamaha has or Dennon used to. A speaker tuned for 65 dB lis...
adding center speaker to existing stereo system
HI @tls49  You make a good argument, but it's not complete.Turns out, a center channel can really be helpful. Have you ever noticed a change in tone when an instrument pans from left to center? It turns out that right in the center your head plays...
Pass Labs vs Mark Levinson vs Parasound - best 2 channel amp used under $2,500?
Honestly between Pass and Parasound, you need to listen. I have gotten to hear a LOT of Pass gear lately, and none of it worked for my ears. I found Pass to be like old Audio Research. Clinical and not particularly robust. Parasound is much warmer...
