Affordable Processor with Fabulous 2 Channel ? Should say, otherwise, the Classe SSP seems like a really good fit for me. It's relatively small, pure analog inputs and has all the formats I need / care about.
Do ClassDAudio Amps Have Proper Decay Of Notes? Ignore my last post. NAD is apparently using the hybrid in the D 3020 but the Direct Digital approach in the D 7050.I own the 3020, and it sounds really good. I have not heard the 7050, but I will say I have never heard a PWM amplifier I liked. I ...
How to get good sound out of this for music only? Hey N80 : Is that the Neo6 Music mode? It's pretty good about creating a credible presence. If you really don't care about movies, my advice is to sell all but the speakers, and get a nice stereo integrated amp.
Do ClassDAudio Amps Have Proper Decay Of Notes? As for NAD: I believe they started to move away from the DirectDigital idea, and forward to a new hybrid technology which in part is based on Hypex. The NAD D3020 is one such hybrid. The current master series multi-channel HT amp is purely Hypex. ...
Affordable Processor with Fabulous 2 Channel ? Thanks for all of the inputs everyone! Owning a small NAD digital integrated, and quite happy with the sound, I was hoping someone would have an informed opinion about the NAD M17 series. I am particularly enamored of the modular construction, and...
What is the most important component in your system. OP:Sorry, I was being a little hyperbolic. :) What I meant was that without good room acoustics, you are never going to have a very good environment in which to listen to equipment. Mind you, the ear brain mechanism is complex, and discerning, so ...
Re-terminate cardas speaker cables DIY? OP:The crimp sleeves do not solve the enamel problem, but sand paper will. :) Sand until the metal looks rough, sparkly. Best, erik
What is the most important component in your system. The room and treatments. Without that, everything else is just bragging about how much you spent.
Is Speaker design evolution stagnant @jacksky - Build a pre-designed kit. Start there. Something inexpensive. After you have built it, you can tweak it to your hearts content.Building a 2-way kit would answer most of your questions, and leave you more expert than most people. Best,Erik
What hi res file is better 96/24 or 192/16 ? Going purely by information density per sample: 96 x 2^24 is two orders of magnitude more than 192 x 2^16That is, more than 100x more data. I'd pick the former. Best,E
Sound from my turntable is veiled (like behind a curtain) I agree a nice phono stage is needed, but have you checked the manual for your current pre? It sounds like the pre could be misconfigured for the cartridge.
Is Speaker design evolution stagnant OP:You need to go away. Seriously. You need to go away from this forum and go build your own active speakers. :)Join us over in DIYAudio or the Parts Express forums. You'd learn a huge amount, build just what you like for pennies on the dollar and...
Pass XA200.8 Review - Fun measurements I read the measurements and they are quite respectable and aren’t pejorative in substance or assessment. I disagree. That’s quite a bit of distortion in the 21st century. I’m not trying to grind an ax here so much as talk about whether it is exact...
Dac Technology Mature? I think there will always be variations in sound quality, just like there are in preamps and amps. Now, is it mature? Over the past 10 years many DACs have stepped up. The tell for me is Redbook playback. It is suddenly MUCH better than before, an...
Black backgrounds and such I think it's both being super quiet, but also letting you hear into the acoustics of the recording. Audibly, it feels as if the wall behind the speakers disappears and you are in a different physical space. Kind of related, tape yourself talking i... |
