10 meters of interconect cable is too long. Can you use balanced??
Amp for subs Have you considered bringing them up to date with a Class D amp with built in crossover/eq capabilities? https://www.minidsp.com/products/plate-amplifiers/pwr-ice250Best,E
Luxman 509 or McIntosh 8900 The 509 adds an output stage compared to the 507, I'm sure it will be fine. Best,E
Clipping Too loud. Turn it down. :) The volume sets the multiplier of the incoming signal, not the limit. Set that mulitiplier greater than the maximum possible and you get clipping.
Streamers and bit rot. Right?? We could mix Sonos/Roon/ Whatever. Also, great if the streaming companies had a common API too.
Why you want upsampling and upconversion in a server and why it sounds way better! maybe it is a function of the USB input from n the earlier Brooklyn DAC? Maybe. :) It definitely feels like a software/timing glitch to me. Coax/optical have no handshake. The DAC must continuously monitor the incoming signal and sync to it, un...
Luxman 509 or McIntosh 8900 Haven't heard Mc's in a very long time so should not comment. Love the Luxman integrateds. Extended in bass and treble, dead quiet, and sweet in the midrange to treble. Also, excellent tone controls you won't be afraid to use when necessary.
Roon can't find HQplayerr Roon has a very active and very responsive community discussion forum. :)https://community.roonlabs.com/Best,Erik
Why you want upsampling and upconversion in a server and why it sounds way better! I remember you saying previously that your Brooklyn gave issues occasionally when switching between differing resolution rates. Not sure if that is a trait of the Brooklyn though as I cannot say I ever had it happen on my Brooklyn? I’ve had at lea...
Why you want upsampling and upconversion in a server and why it sounds way better! OK, having just done some informal comparisons I am now absolutely ready to render the definitive verdict on the subject. For me. :) I went from straight PCM streaming to DSD 128. I agree with @rossb - Mostly what I heard was in the range of cymb...
Building an AUDIOPHILE friendly PC from scratch so what is a must to consider in 2020? I’m running roon with a PC in a closet, and streaming to a Raspberry Pi 4 with 4 Gigs of RAM, and Ubuntu. ~ $150, fanless. A little more if you add a linear power supply. https://inatinear.blogspot.com/2019/12/mytek-dsd-and-ubuntu-on-pi-4.htmlThe ...
Furman IT Ref 20i - Hums/Buzzes I'm sad to hear of a Furman doing this. Usually it IS DC on the line. Take it to another home and see if the problem magically disappears. :) Best,E
Best Integrated for Martin Logan ESL 13A I was going to suggest a Luxman. They are not bright, at all. Extended at both ends but liquid and sweet. Honestly, if you DO happen to find the 509 bright, switch down to the 507 (listening to mine as I type). It has higher output impedance, and ...
Why you want upsampling and upconversion in a server and why it sounds way better! So I just tried upsampling to DSD 128. It takes up about 5-10x more CPU in the Roon server, I think this is as high as I can go with my pokey A10 CPU. My DAC (Mytek Brooklyn) has issues switching sample rates. Sometimes it glitches, which is annoy...
Help me understand John Coltrane .... seriously. If the answer is yes, then why attempt to disseminate why...if the answer is no...same point. Why not? As I’ve said many times, art is not without context. Liking an expression and understanding the vector (where was it, where is it going?) are se... |
