Non-rear ported Speakers First, I have read that front ported speakers are not sonically viable. Any credence to that minority opinion? There's all sorts of misconceptions or beliefs about the audibility of ports vs. sealed speakers. Is there another myth that the positio...
Would a stand alone dac help, and how much? I own a Mytek Brooklyn, which has a feature you want when streaming from these types of devices: outstanding jitter rejection. Best,E
DSF and DSD Audio Files.....help I have a Roon, and it does play DSD files just fine.If you really want to create new FLAC files so you can play them anywhere then doing so with ffmpeg on linux is the easiest way. See the second comment here:https://www.head-fi.org/threads/the-be...
2 Questions? I also recommend custom speakers from Fritz a lot. :) I’ve met him, and we chat on the phone, but I have no financial interest in his company. Not even a beer. We just both like the same parts, and I find he's undercharging for his speakers a grea...
2 Questions? Hey! No, I've never worked in home audio. I used to work in motion picture sound though. :) Now I work in cloud based IT. I like Monitor Audio because they are neutral and laid back and a good value. I had the Silver 6, now have a pair of slim li...
2 Questions? Hey High-amp, What I mean by lower and higher is the first and last band. Each band has a frequency, a Q and an amplitude (db). The graph identifies each band by a dot, which you can click and drag. You can also select the band by the drop down me...
Mixing 4ohm and 8ohm Set it to 4, but you'll get less output. Consider a modern Anthem MRX 720 as a worthy upgrade which won't have those issues. I would avoid going with too many channels in any AVR. More channels usually means they are going to be more power limited...
Higher End DACs Thanks for the info @kren0006Do you have any other high resolution sources, or would you say it’s almost all Tidal? I’m wondering if you can compare both to Redbook (44.1 kHz/16 bit) on your DAC.Thanks,Erik
Need a high end, quite, phase proper, passive X over! The best place for this is over at DIYaudio
Lumin X1 or dCS Bartok Lumin is using output transformers as part of their analog stage which adds some color but otherwise retains the detail provided by the ESS DAC chips. @nekoaudio Love transformer coupled output stages, especially in balanced outputs. :) Yumm. TBC:...
Lumin X1 or dCS Bartok @grannyringSays "roon ready" so that to me indicates it is a streamer only.
What is this speaker cable connection? I meant to type:Key to these is that the core is copper.
Higher End DACs Roon seriously exaggerates the CPU they need, so long as you aren’t resampling to DSD.I use an AMD A 10 78xx and with several EQ functions engaged it barely gets to 4% CPU utilization. Even PCM upsampling is negligible.
Higher End DACs Hi @kren0006What DAC are you using??
Speakers Don’t Matter As Much As We Think They Do? It wont be long before custom tuning is the norm and folks will start to realize that that eccentric person called kenjit was right all along. Kenjit is stuck in the halcyon dreams of the 1980s. DSP alone cannot fix a bad room. Floyd Toole, among ... |
