Finally, something new
nulling is old news , but few know how to do it Nope, not doing that. :)
Finally, something new
PS - Any amplifier manufacturers who want to loan me a 2 channel amplifier, I promise to keep results confidential. Nothing over 60 lbs, please!! Same for preamps and DACs.
Bits Are Bits, Right?
Almost all this goes away with the use of a modern DAC. :)
What does Roon make in SQ ( Sound Quality) when inserted in my system?
I use Roon and I like it. No, I didn't really have any sort of magical sound changes. The UI and Tidal / ripped music integration was why I did it.Having said this, I was able to do a little room correction using the built in DSP capabilities. Oth...
Doubting Sound Treatment ?
In the commercial space I really like GIK - very high performance panels and traps, at a fraction of the cost of ASC. Conventional panel wise, yes. Anyone can totally replicate any GIK or other overpriced panel for peanuts. Yeah, but GIK is alrea...
Speaker sensitivity, impedance, and calculating amp power
"What role does impedance have, if any, alongside other factors in the calculation of how much power should be used to drive a speaker comfortably?" Zero, because in my experience, the math is not complete. We don’t get damping factor for the amp...
Speaker sensitivity, impedance, and calculating amp power
OP:If you are interested in theory alone, start with understanding power and sensitivity (not efficiency) at 1 meter. Assume the amplifier is a perfect voltage source, and the speaker an ideal 8 ohms. Then understand that you can use the power in ...
Speaker sensitivity, impedance, and calculating amp power
Honestly, as some one who does a lot of measuring and critical listening, this is difficult. It seems amps are more sensitive to speaker impedance than we think, so current is important, but the rated power at 8 Ohms is not really.  Usually 50-100...
OK...Added 2 HSU ULS-15Mk2 subwoofers To My System
Big Hsu fan here. 😉
LP made from a digital master recording...
The mastering engineer's vision of the finished product is a big deal. I wouldn't be surprised if he/she was making different choices for LPs. Certainly happens with different releases of CD's as well.
Importance of phase and timing optimization when incorporating sub woofers ?
What's funny is I literally just did this last week. I used the OmniMic DVD test to align the subwoofer to the center channel.  My audio processor's distance setting was too coarse, so I got it as close as I could, and watched the frequency respon...
What the 802 and 3 Decades can tell us about trends
Wow you must have stayed up all night getting this thread done. @ebm If you are accusing me of being thoughtful before I post, guilty as charged.
What the 802 and 3 Decades can tell us about trends
One thing I've noted looking at these charts is how smooth the S3 tweeter was compared to the D varieties. I had always thought the ragged peaks were due to the micro motors, but this proves otherwise. Would be very interesting to look at compress...
What the 802 and 3 Decades can tell us about trends
I remember Dr. Leach bringing this up in a lecture. Not sure if he mentioned B&W specifically or if it was just a general discussion about electro-acoustical summing. All I mean to say is, that the bass alignment filters act far below where Tr...
The new amplifiers is getting warmer and hot
The Parasound A21 is A/B. I had the original, and they ran warm.  I measured the wattage, and as I recall, the idle power was 2x spec. The other two I believe (but I am not Google) are class D.
